The Smiths & Morrissey thread

The Smiths are a wonderful band and arguably Manchester’s best.

Morrissey is a great lyricist, genius in fact and Marr’s music is great.

I also met Joyce at City once and he was a great guy. He even let on to me when I walked past him again.

Arrived at Wembley for the cup final last May and my mate had my ticket.. No idea where it was for as he got it off a mate of his!
Took my seat near the half way line and 3 mins later up pops Mike and sits in the very next seat to to me!!!! Amazing, know him well and made my day.
Got a picture of us but dont know how to post it

Leeds arena is an awful venue particularly when not full. I saw Morrisey there a couple of years ago, he was ok but the atmosphere was eerie.

I saw Morrissey at Hammersmith Odeon a few years back. One of the worst gigs I have ever been to. He played a dreadful setlist and seemed intent on winding up the crowd. He spent most of the time trying to convert the crowd to veganism. Lots of people had left well before the end. Ticket was £85. Never again.

Much more fun to be had going to see The Smyths - 3 hour gig, all the hits, brilliant atmosphere, massive sing-a-long, all for £15.

I love going to their gig at the Ritz. Bass player gets on my tits a bit as loved himself but it’s a good night out.

You need help.

If you know, you know.
Honestly mate, I cannot remotely imagine how on earth anyone likes them. Terrible, terrible, dreary, droning "songs", droned out by a tuneless twat of a person. Shit awful, banal and repetitive chord sequences. Musically inept. Fucking awful. For me, comfortably THE WORST band ever in the history of successful bands. Absolute garbage.

So you’re not a fan XD

How can you not like these words?

I decree today that life is simply taking and not giving
England is mine, it owes me a living

And the pain was enough to make a shy, bald, Buddhist reflect
And plan a mass murder
Who said I'd lied to her?

Why pamper life's complexity
When the leather runs smooth
On the passenger's seat?

Belligerent ghouls
Run Manchester schools
Spineless swines
Cemented minds
Sir leads the troops
Jealous of youth
Same old suit since nineteen sixty two

Morrissey is a genius with pen and paper.

I have been on this forum for over 12 years now. And I can truly say, without a shadow of a doubt, that THAT is one of the finest posts I have had the pleasure of reading. Sir, I doff my cap to you. May I be permitted to touch the hem of your garment?
