The Smiths & Morrissey thread

When Marr quit / left / sacked and Ivor Perry from Easterhouse came in they did try a song that became Bengali in platforms but that was it.
Stephen Street / Vinny Riley did the rest of the music. Moz may have done a lot of the lyrics at that time of course.
Was mad seeing clips of morrissey first solo tour with him, Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke onstage and no Johnny Marr. I think viva hate is up there as a great album too, in retrospect it's a bit like the roses second coming where musically it's a bit all over the place.

And Craig Gannon in the line up too!
Though wasn't a tour, just that Wolverhampton gig.

Worried about mozza with the virus going round - he's not a well man in recent times, and actually not cancelling shows recently will have run him down a bit.

I finally got around to watching “England Is Mine” last night and thought it was pretty weak, even though I was a big Smiths fan. The lack of Smiths music, no doubt because dickhead himself refused to alllow it, leaves a gaping hole in the film.

The film is about how The Smiths came to be so their music wouldn’t be heard in it. I thought the film was ok. He portrayed Morrissey very well.

So a film about the teenage / early 20's Morrissey that ends in May 1982 when Johnny knocks on his door and asks if Morrissey wants to be in his band..... surprised you that it didn't contain any Smiths songs in the soundtrack....

Yes of course it did. The film should have been punctuated with clips of Morrissey writing/singing his fledgling lyrics and Marr putting riff together, and then the ending should have see the two unite gloriously. That’s the story in a nutshell.
