The Smiths & Morrissey thread

I’m booking flights to Tampa this weekend to see him in St Petersburg in January.
For the first time in my life I am adding insurance to the cost of the flight…..

Will it be solo gig number 62 or cancellation number 14?
I quite like how fucked he is. One of the few folk I know that has aged more badly than me since the 80s

Went to watch The Smyths at the Ritz tonight. Fantastic night. Meat is Murder Tour with all the hits. Pretty much a full house. Great atmosphere !

It was absolutely rammed quite uncomfortable!
Did you see the Billy Bragg tribute ? I genuinely could not spot any differences between him and the real thing , singing wise.

Caught the last 3 songs. Very good and like you say hard to tell the difference.

Been a few years since I have seen them but well worth the £22 or whatever it cost.

Each to their own but tribute bands, no matter how good - massive no from me.
Glad you enjoyed though. Going to gigs is great.
A good tribute band:

£20 a ticket instead of £100
No dynamic pricing
No rip off booking fees
Shorter queues at the bar
Smaller venue
A greater guarantee of hearing all the big songs instead of an idiosyncratic choice of the latest songs (“the best thing I’ve ever written, really”)
Shorter travel time & distance getting to gig
The chance to hear a 30 year old similar voice singing songs recorded by a 30 year old, not someone who is today touching 70 and whose voice has changed a helluva lot.

Yeah, I don’t mind a decent tribute band tbf.
