I found a minicassette player...

So,...

In 1994, 30th April, we stood on The Kippax terrace for the last time, before its demolition. I took along a handheld memo recorder, and captured the crowd.

Today, I received an ancient Philips memo player, a minicassette, no less, and after some fettling, I have digitised the sound of football's greatest terrace...IMHO.

And here it is... embellished with some reverb, needed due to the age of the tape. This is a packed Kippax, prior to kick-off, the most complete crowd participation of our song I think I ever heard...the silences between lines of the song were real...we sang in unison. This is the actual sound of The Kippax in 1994. Edited in Audacity, it is what it is.

I own these files, please feel free to use them as you see fit. There is nothing else like this out there. In return, just have a look at my book...lol.

Love it! As someone born in 1992 I'm quite gutted I didn't get to experience the proper atmosphere of Maine Road but this seems to capture it really well! Subscirbed to your YouTube channel too!

if you export the mp3 and then use that as the audio for the video on youtube it will be much better quality...or upload the mp3 to soundcloud

I could send you the mp3...

The problem is the actual recording is from a 31-year old minicassette, played through an ancient mini memo recorder I just bagged from eBay, then using Voice Recorder on my S24 Ultra, then converting the file to WAV, then threw the WAV into Audacity to create the mp3, lobbing reverb over the file to disguise the age of the sound.

Lol. All true. Took a while.

I'll gladly email you, or anyone else, the mp3. Nice ring tone.

I wish I could hear that to remind me of a misspent youth. Loved the Kippax.
