The Spanish Armada: Spain's Failed Invasion of England

Never seen Zulu Dawn then?
Which goes exactly to prove my point.
Who remembers the leading actors in Zulu Dawn( without looking it up)?
Probably not many because it is a film about an ignominious defeat for the British Army.
Ask the same people who the leading actors are in ZULU and everybody knows that Stanley Baker and
Michael Caine are playing Lieutenant Chard and Bromhead who lead The 24th Regiment of Foot in the glorious action in which an unprecedented 11 Victoria Crosses were awarded to our brave British soldiers.
It was a victory snatched from the jaws of defeat.

Doesn't every country play that game? I heard the French claim Trafalgar was a bit of a messy skirmish and a friend of the family from Scotland always said how he was astonished to discover when he came down South during the war that there were other battles apart from Bannockburn as they were never mentioned at school. (actually saw a programme the other day about how we had a French king for about 18 months but it turns out we've airbrushed that one out of history as well - just after nasty King John I think).
Prince Louis (to later become Louis VIII of France) was proclaimed King Louis I of England by dissenting barons but never crowned. The barons then changed allegiance after a few months to John's son Henry when John died, leaving Louis without substantial support, but he controlled half of the country before finally being forced to retreat back to France.

And yet we get told we have never been invaded since 1066.

I don't know what school he went to. I knew about all of the battles we lost against the English. What was emphasised was even after these defeats we returned to fight, which was probably romantic but the history shows that we did and most times we lost through lack of numbers and equipment. Eventually the decision was taken to join forces and fight every other ****.
