What I like about this wind up thread is that it's got some quality posts in it as a result. I have a terrible memory so I'm grateful for the reminders of how things were.

Stuart Pearce didnt get the credit he deserved as well
Tempted to start a "Where would we be without Alan Ball?" thread now...

another great manager not given enough time!!

FCK him he got lucky I have never hated a city manager as much as him from day one he is a twat and don't get me started on his interviews he could of won us the treble and I would still hate the twat.

Hughes brought in some great players but couldn't manage them.

Kompany was a DM under Hughes, and a bench player at the time of his sacking

Line Up for Hughes last 2 games:

away to Spurs
01 Given
02 Richards
04 Onuoha
16 Sylvinho
28 Toure
07 Ireland
18 Barry
34 De Jong (Petrov 71)
10 Robinho (Santa Cruz 59)
25 Adebayor
32 Tevez
Substitutes
12 Taylor, 05 Zabaleta, 33 Kompany, 17 Petrov, 40 Weiss, 14 Santa Cruz, 27 Mwaruwari

Home to Sunderland
01 Given
02 Richards (Zabaleta 22)
04 Onuoha
16 Sylvinho
28 Kolo Toure
07 Ireland
08 Wright-Phillips (Kompany 52)
18 Barry
14 Santa Cruz
32 Tevez
39 Bellamy (Petrov 87)
Substitutes
12 Taylor, 05 Zabaleta, 33 Kompany, 17 Petrov, 40 Weiss, 10 Robinho, 25 Adebayor

Kompany was injured all season, he came back for the Bolton game and had a shocker as he was not ready.

Did any one here watch city 5 years ago?

I'm pretty sure Kompany seldom ever played CB under Hughes (even on his debut he only played 20 minutes there)

In the World Cup squad for Brazil...

You are kidding me right ? H
Nope

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Toronto FC), Jefferson (Botafogo), Victor (Gremio).

Defenders: Dani Alves (Barcelona), Maicon (Roma), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Maxwell (PSG), David Luiz (Chelsea), Thiago Silva (PSG), Dante (Bayern Munich), Henrique (Napoli).

Midfielders: Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Paulinho (Tottenham), Ramires (Chelsea), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Oscar (Chelsea), Willian (Chelsea), Hernanes (Inter Milan).

Forwards: Fred (Fluminense), Neymar (Barcelona), Hulk (Zenit St Petersburg), Jo (Atletico Mineiro), Bernard (Shakhtar Donetsk).

This thread did get me thinking about the whole Robinho situation after the takeover, actually had to wiki the lad to find out he was still at Milan cos I just hadnt seen/heard much of him of late. Few years ago he would have been a shoe in for a WC squad, must have been injured this past season, or just not performing?

He's the Miley Cirus of football. Living off an undeserved reputation and more often that not photographed sticking out his tongue.

Don't forget that this twat saw fit to spunk £6m on Tal Ben Haim as well.

Mark Hughes had the worlds greatest centre back and still spent £15m on Kolo and £24m on Joleon Lescott whilst going all in on John Terry. The word clueless is very apt.
