I know none of us are really interested in Harrys wheeling and dealing, but if you listen to the way the deal was explained on SSN yesterday I just think that had it been us paying that amount for a player we would have been ridiculed.

Correct me if I am wrong ( and I am sure you will).

Spurs sold him to Pompey for £9 million with a £4 million sell on clause.

Spurs buy him back for a quoted £15 million 12 months later, and write off Pompey having to pay back to Spurs the £4 million.
So Defoe actually costs Spuds £19 million.

His personal terms were never mentioned but you can bet he will be on big till back there. Again if it had been us they would have been plucking all sorts of figures around 100K a week, and saying its ridiculous

The worlds gone mad £19 million for Jermaine Defoe

Surely it's 11m if they are getting 4m back after paying 15m?

The worlds gone mad £19 million for Jo

He said spurs waived that though, unless they paid them £11 million and it's down as £15 million supposedly including the £4 million sell on?

No they are writing off receiving the £4 million from Pompey that they would have received if another club had bought him, so its in effect £19 million.

The deal for Jo was £4 million up front with add ons, which may in someones dreams, reach £19 million, but as we know now it never will

So Harry buys a player from Spurs for £'x' & of course doesn't receive any kind of financial reward from dodgy agents & everything is conducted completely 'above board' then Harry persuades Spurs to buy said player back for £ 'x' + 'y' & waives £4M whilst of course not receiving any kind of financial reward from dodgy agents & conducting every part of the deal completely honestly.

Can't see a problem.

That 4m would have been priced in to the overall deal so I suspect 11m + 4

Mike,

SSN specifically quoted last night the £15 million paid plus the writing off of the £4 million.
