The state of British politics

Watched a grumpy old man read a list of lies in a barely audible manner in a shining palace today.
Looked at all those lords and ladies and assembled gentlefolk gathered round him and I wondered what the fuck do they do all day?
Like a retirement home. Everybody asleep while the gobby lunatic shouts at the moon.

I think it became particularly bad after Cameron left. Don't get me wrong, I hated Cameron, but he actually wanted to govern and did what he thought was right for the country. But since then, we've just had a series of people in top jobs who are only interested in what they can personally get out of being in government and the Tory party has been so clearly taken over by the far right of the party that all of the more reasonable and moderate Tories have basically disappeared. Add to that the use of covid to basically legalize corruption and yeah, it's pretty toxic. A combination of self-serving opportunists and genuine bottom-of-the-barrel ministers. It comes to something when you look at Jeremy Hunt as a safe pair of hands.

80k plus in fairness. Where do I get my application form I'd be well up for it.
And a nice cushy directorship on the board of some company where they coincidentally pay you to do no work because you're a minister that happens to be in charge of something that might cost or save them money. Definitely not corruption though. That's something that only happens in developing countries.

If you're going to pick on Angela Raynor why not pick on Christopher Chope, the fossil, who is infinitely worse?

Raynor is a working-class woman from northern England who talks bluntly. They do not like it up 'em. They think she should be quiet and work in a kitchen somewhere. That's Tory arrogance for you.
