What happened those three months with both above managers quitting so soon after taking the reins?? Was already living in the States so didnt get much City news back then. Am I remembering right ...did Coppell have some kind of nervous breakdown?

no but the kid he tried to bum did.

Phil Neal didnt quit, he was only the caretaker manager after Coppell left until he got the sack when Frank Clark took over as the new management team didnt want him, I think Tony Book went at the same time?

I wouldn't dig to deep to into the Coppell era if I were you. Its a Taboo subject to say the least.

It is bit of a sore point....

I've heard all the stories about Coppell and Frontzec and some City fans swear blind it's true while others will tell you that it's just an urban myth.

I've heard that many conflicting tales on here I haven't got a fucking clue what really happened.

I saw Phil Neal at a football tournament a few years ago. I was wearing a City shirt and asked him how he found life at Maine Road. He was very complimentary about the club and said if any set of fans deserved a bit of success, it was us.

However 11 years on, he was still absolutely seething about Coppell. The first he knew about Coppell leaving was when he turned up at the club and a journalist stuck a microphone under his nose asking for his reaction.

I even ribbed him about his part in the Graham Taylor documentary and he took it in good spirits.
