As the title says documentry on about the skinhead subculture from it's roots in mod/ska and multi cultural appreciation of music and fashion to being hijacked by the far right, and also it's legacy today.

Should be an interesting watch for some.

no it was a originally 60's subculture mixing mod and jamaican rude boy music and fashion, and was inclusive of all. It was only in the early 80's when far right groups appropriated it, and tabloid hysteria permamently left a lot of people asocciating it with the far right.

The film was done by Don Letts who does a show on Sunday night on 6 Music. His last one was dedicated to Jamaican/skinhead music and was a really good listen. It's available to download and listen to for 30 days.

Really good film, the many forms it has took is facinating, tbf have alway been a mod into the kinks and dressing in smart gear and guess some.of my dress (harington jacket, number 2 hair and sideburns, check shirt crombie style coat) and my colllection of trojan ska records means I probably identified with the original skins, not the fuckwits nowadays on the right.

It was a great documentary. Showed how a youth movement/culture born out of working class roots that evolved musically and culturally into something that was the direct opposite of where it came from. Worth a watch on the iplayer if missed - assuming you've paid the license fee ha ha ha

Glad everyone was else was as confused as I was in the 70s and early 80s about why white racists were jumping up and down to reggae and ska. Weird.

Not watched it yet but know a few people in it from attending the Skinhead Reunion in Brighton every June - it will be 6th year in 2017
