RIP Sue & Sam.
Why oh why do people allow the tabloids to get them wound up? Have these people not realised what the papers are doing?

Consider the stories we see regularly. The players they write about are generally fans favourites and guaranteed to spark a reaction. Wages stories about our new signings, Tevez, Ireland or Bellamy leaving or having bust up with Manchini. Stories such as Jo or RSC leaving only warrant a sentence at the end of a Bellamy tale. That sort of revelation wouldn't cause any reaction as it is expected by many and would barely raise an eyebrow.

The stories are full of disclaimers such as 'alleged' 'suggested' 'may well' and other wording that basically says to me that there is no proveable truth in the story. It would be interested to keep a record of one tabloids stories over a year and see how many actually turned out to have any truth in them at all.

I'm tired of reading peoples rants about unsubstantiated crap whether from the press or their mates mate who knows a man whos son lives next door to Gary Cooks mother-in-law. I try to avoid them as much as I can but it isn't easy when there are so many that infiltrate otherwise sensible topics. There are, for example, comments today about FIFAs new rules. The post is littered with comments that the posters put forward as fact when it is nothing more than hearsay or an assumption based purely on the posters personal opinion of how matters arose. These comments generate more assumptions put forward as fact and the nonsense grows! Some of the posters consider a comment, make an assumption based on next to nothing, convince themselves that their newly contrived snippet of guesswork is actually truth and decide to share it with the rest of us! One posters knows for a fact that the FIFA ruling on revenue was due to Citys unsubstantiated/ alleged/possibly in the region of £100m bid on Kaka. Apparantly we have people on here who are in direct contact with Platini and he obvioulsy passes on information that nobody else is privvy to.

The sooner people realise that City, or any other club for that matter, will not let people who are likely to go blabbing to the press access to important information, details of personal or private conversations between senior staff or transfer dealings before they are completed, the better. Agents will not leak deals to the press as they would simply be blanked by every other club and player as they could not be trusted. Wages and fees are rarely made public by the club as it would undoubtably affect future negotiations with players and other teams.

No doubt there has been anothe half dozen stories about players and transfer rumours posted as I composed this. Can't wait to read them.

Very good - very sensible post - doubt it will have the desired impact thogh

Too many posters seem to get off on being drama queens - and lots also just seem to get off on starting threads about some newspaper crap story or whatever - as if it puts their 'name in lights' for a little while

That's what I thought as I about to post it. Almost didn't bother as I thought it would generate a tirade of abuse. At least there's another one who sees my point - thanks!

As Stevie Ireland said in todays MEN. He was sick of hearing how he was being associated with this or that club whilst he was on holiday with his family. Getting texts to the effect that he was being sold to tom dick or harry club with NO SUBSTANTIATION WHATSOEVER. but was quoted 'as fact' in the tabloids who, afterall, are there to sell papers. and lets face it, sports headlines like 'YaYa Toure to be paid £250,000 a week' sell papers!!!
ROLL ON 14th AUGUST!!!!!!!

I agree except the bit about the agents being blanked out. Clubs wont all agree to blank out certain agents. The agents job is to get their client the best deal, and some players have real psychos for agents, just like the Lazio president. We wont bend over backwards but sometimes you have to hold your tongue to get the player you want, and the deal done.

One good thing about living in Canada is that I don't have to see any of these papers or headlines. When people post links on here to them, I don't read them either. I also don't have to listen to co-workers bleating on about 200 grand this and ruining football that. However, when I watch City on the box, I usually have to listen to that fat little twat Maccari snivell and whine, but thankfully, I can't understand a word he's saying as he has some type of speech impediment.
