The Things You Remember As A Kid Thread

in the late 70's my dad took me to Elland Road to watch City vrs Leeds, it was kicking off all over the ground then the players started fighting on the pitch. i remember watching Brian Kidd (who was stood on the right wing) run the full width of the pitch and without breaking stride nutted one of their players, i can still see his curly mop being flung forward like it was yesterday.

I always used to guess the flavour of the milkshake in that other programme - I think the giraffe's were the best at guessing!
 
Getting up at 6 in the morning to watch the littlest hobo an not being tired, kicking a football around from 9 in the morning till 6 at night and not being tired. watching hart to hart and crazy like a fox on sunday evenings, metal mickey on a saturdays, being scared shitless by any hammer house of horror films, taping the top ten on radio one on sundays, the house always being cold cos there was no radiators, having to fook about with the volume on my tape recorder or any games i tried to load on my spectrum would crash, being blown away by the graphics on outrun, playing soccer manager which was the first game to have all the proper players names and signing ian rush to play for bristol rovers,playing 'chips' on my grifter bike and them fookin horrible tape paper things that used to hang from the ceilings to catch flys

The ORIGINAL Power Rangers, everyone wanted to be the red one. How un-PC was it? The yellow ranger was chinese, the black ranger was .... black! They each had their own special abilities, the black guy was good at dancing and the chinese girl knew kung fu. Don't think it would get on tv nowadays with those un PC themes. The pink ranger was fit as well!
 
I remember being outraged when half penny chews (black jacks mojo and the like) doubled in price from 1/2p to 1p over night because 1/2 pennies were removed as currency .

the ballboys at city in the mid seventies wore maroon tracksuits with 2 sky blue stripes down the sleeve.
i mithered my mum for months to get me one then i got it along with a tonka toy and meccano set on christmas morning.
fuck knows where she got it from but i loved it, looked a twat when i got that chalky dog shit on it though but i pretended it was from off the touchline when i was being dennis tueart - king of all geordies!!
