I get claustophobic in a Matallan changing room never mind something that is the size of a car, two and half miles down in a completly hostile and alien environment with over 350 times more pressure than sea level knowing full well you're going to die in the freezing cold anyway, very shortly. Got to be the most god awful way to die, I really wish them all well but much bigger planes and ships have been lost in much shallower waters and never found.

This is the thing, under water, mountains, jungles, space, arctic, etc etc all want to kill you, so why do it, I've never got it

Everything has a danger element whether it’s bungee jumping, jumping out a plane or climbing a mountain - people of all different backgrounds and wealth can do these things. For some they want to experience all these things rather than sit at home and watch TV all day.
No one should begrudge them and be callous about their deaths imo.
