The Titanic

More hateful shite.

It's very hard to view in the same context given the migrant boat off Greece sank and most who died did so because they couldn't swim. The Greek Navy rescued the vast majority of them so those who died hardly died due to a lack of resources.

If you view it from a logistical angle then I doubt the US Coast Guard or anyone else for that matter could do much to help given getting to Greece would take days.... I guess the argument is that every country should have an army of ships on standby just in case migrants decide to get in an unsafe boat and make the trip.

Obviously to some strange people rich people dying is okay which is absolutely no different to the morons who say that the Royal Navy should be shooting migrants in the water.
I was a bit tipsy at the time but im sure I saw a long piece from Newsnight where they debunked the Greek patrol boats’ version of events on the migrant rescue using satellite data to disprove the official statement of the movements of the migrant boat when their sos was made.

I only hope the end came quickly for them. Poor fuckers. That dad and his lad….heartbreaking stuff.

As some others have said, you must need your head seeing to, signing up and paying to go 4K down in an experimental tin can. I watched the video someone posted a few pages back with the expert explaining the design features etc. I was immediately put off by the owners comments around not employing 50 something white men (from the industry)…..and instead plumbing for tech graduates with zero submariner experience….arrogant to say the least.

Ye me neither, sad :(

Won't take long for it to be buried at the bottom, it may even be stuck inside the wreck.

It either had structure failure and imploded the remains scattered tens of miles apart or lost total power drifted for miles and miles stuck at the bottom but if that was the case they would just discharge the weight and floated up unless they needed power for that!

I believe the pressure hull was designed with consultation with NASA and Boeing because of their expertise in carbon fibre technology.

The remainder from what I have read was a bit heath Robinson, particularly the ballast system.

Their air supplies would have run out roughly now right? I honestly don't think they will even find the vessel. If it imploded the carbon fibre will have come apart leaving just the titanium ring and dome structure at the front. Even if it was intact it is such a relatively small vessel ocean currents could have moved it almost anywhere.

At what point do you cut off from searching? It sounds cruel but the cost of searching must be already in the millions and has to be a consideration at some point. Coast guard assets also can't be all focussed just on this as they will eventually be needed elsewhere.

What a terrible way to go, over 4 days slow death culminated in a really horrible end where each passenger would pass out at different stages, last one to go would be a pretty lonely death.

The 19 year old should have been in Ibiza with his mates, not looking at a rusty old ship that was itself a tragedy.

Poor bastards, no one will ever know the level of suffering.

Jettison of ballast had three methods. Computer controlled, hand lever operating a hydraulic system and finally a hand operated mechanical system

Should be eligible for Darwin awards.

Sadly they are passed the point of no return, even if they found the sub right now there wouldnt be enough time to get them up and unbolt the fucking thing , watched the making of it this morning , it was made with two inches too less of the titaienem in(sp) required , cut corners every where and didnt submit it for independant safety test

The captain boasting about breaking the rules to increase the risk factor is mindblowing to me , this is like the pilot that crashed carrying that footballer that time
