How many points will be needed to win the league?

Serious question from a clearly ignorant Londoner. What's the reason for City's animosity towards Liverpool? I remember seeing a client in Manchester a few years ago during City's centurion season, he was a United fan and was adamant City had to win the league ahead of Liverpool. Fair enough I thought, historical rivalry between United and the victims and all that. Cab driver back to the station was a City fan, he was saying that he had some sympathy for United (Mourinho was manager then) and that he'd support United 100% over Liverpool.

So genuine question, is it just a Manchester vs Liverpool thing? I'd just assume United would be THE rivalry.

In London obviously teams are local rivals but basically every London team seems to hate Spurs, West Ham and Arsenal don't mind each other that much, West Ham hate Millwall, Chelsea have appalling fans but I'd cheer them in Europe against a European team but not against another PL side, I do like Brentford and Fulham and so on. But absolutely many fans in London would express a dislike for Liverpool, but that's based on their fanbase. There's no animosity towards Everton so it isn't a City of Liverpool thing.
Perhaps because they are bus attacking scum?

Still a bit early to be predicting things, but from the very small sample we have it looks like we are going into the Autumn with every other potential "contender" having obvious weaknesses that are exploited by each other and that they'll all be taking points off each other many times over. It'll be fascinating to see the United/Arsenal game this weekend for that reason.

I just can't see Liverpool, Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Newcastle or (lol) Spurs putting 10 back-to-back wins together. I can't see some of those teams putting five together. So by my new assessment and reckoning the season will be an interesting and fun one, but the eventual winner won't need a crazy high points tally.

Let’s face it, the rest haven’t improved and we look as good even without Gundo and Mahrez, in fact Kovacic may even have taken us up a level! The only hope the rest have is the well worn path of smears and hoping they can get some of this rehashed shit to stick.

Four in a row and retaining the CL will do for me.

Arsenal don't look as good as I'd expected. I think most teams have glaring weaknesses. The rags and liverpool defensively. Chelsea as a collective and Arsenal mentally. I think all are at least a season off being able to challenge, at which point Chelsea are probably in the best position because they'll spend and spend and spend.

We've got a great chance to win it again considering our recruitment has been excellent again and adding a bit of an x factor with Doku who can provide something different. The players mentally look really up for making it 4 in a row as well, which was my only concern.

Kovacic has slotted in really well, looks a better player than he was at Chelsea. Smart signing.

It’s historic, Manchester usurped Liverpool as the richest and northern industrial hub they’ve never got over it

Plus the two cities are very distinct in forms of culture

Best start of season, since 2016/17 .
Strangely enough , that was the worst season of Pep in Man City
