How many points will be needed to win the league?

It’s not the same though. There are only two feasible ways we can win this title. Win all our games or win two and draw one. For the latter to conceivably happen we need to win big in the other two. All some posters (including me) are saying is that if we’re winning by a decent margin on Saturday after (say) an hour, then we would prefer us to try and increase that lead rather than preserve it, as a form of insurance - and to put more pressure on Arsenal. Others may disagree with that approach and they are perfectly entitled to, as it’s a perfectly logical and sensible, if somewhat cautious perspective.

On the other hand, every single poster on here (who is a blue) wants us to win all three, irrespective of how we do it. There is no sensible counterpoint to that perspective.

So there is a distinction.

Nice one.

I find it premature. An hour in, if we are winning comfortably, sure, I'll jump on board. Ahead of the game, against a team that are no pushovers, I'm not jumping to counting 5 or 6 goals, I'll take the one to win it. That's all.

That might be obvious, but I don't feel it is redundant, given that I am reaponding to comments I think are running away with it a bit. For now.

No one has said (at least afaik) we are going to win by five or six on Saturday. It’s a huge ask to win by that margin in an away game against a good side who have only conceded 20 goals at home in 18 games. But it’s feasible the form both teams are in, and also worthy of debate.

Ten Hag 2024: "We are one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in the league at this moment”.

John Carver 2016: “"I still think I'm the best coach in the Premier League”.
If we lose to this Rags outfit we should relegate ourselves out of shame.

My understanding is that Fernandes will be back but Rashford and Martinez won't be.

I'd fancy myself to score against that Rags back 4, let alone Saka and Odegaard.

I`ll be shocked if you don`t put a least 5 past them. I always like seeing those twats getting a pounding, but strange things happen in run ins and you haven`t yet proved you can overcome the pressure and win. You haven`t won a trophy since 2020 which I think is your problem, so the question is do your players really believe you can win. We`ll see.

Hopefully if we can get a win at Fulham I can sit back and enjoy your game what ever the outcome.

I think Spurs will be playing for top four on Tuesday. Villa are fucked, crippled by injuries and half fit players, they’ve got Liverpool on Monday who have had a weeks rest. Spurs have got Burnley tomorrow, I think there’s a good chance that Vinnie comes away with a point.

If we are discussing permutations, you raised the point of pressure on Arsenal the following day, and how a bigger goal margin would add to that, on top of giving us a cushion etc.

I'll be honest, I think a marginal last minute win would deflate them more than a resounding comfortable one. Obviously would rather want the second one, but happy with any whichever way it comes, and I think both will have a similar effect. I'd also rather thake two 1-0 wins in a row, than a 6-0 and a 1-1.

I’ll take a 1 nil win all day against Fulham. And then see what happens in the other two games. In my opinion we turn up and play each game like a cup final. That way we win the league. And if we don’t, so be it. Not getting all arrogant and entitled about it, we have been spoilt by this tremendous team and management of late and the fact that they’ve given everything is enough for me. We can’t really ask for more.

Going on Saturday… in the Fulham end though with my mate who’s a season ticket holder there.. he’s told me to behave but is confident I’ll be hiding my smile… let’s fucking hope so!
Hopefully you manage five quiet fist pumps during the game!! ;-)
