How many points to win the league?

Rodri's injury was a colossal blow. Dont want to say we are a one man team, as its crazy to think with the talent we have that we rely on one player to perform, but at the moment the team looks completely lost.
Add Kev to that and its left a huge hole in our midfield that Kova and Gundo just can't get close to filling. Foden is bang out of form as well and my hope was he would fill the void left by Kev. Long way to go and time for those players to up it big time.

However, the loss of Rodri should not be underestimated.

Yet, some upbeat posters often do it. It's like we have won 100 titles in a row and it's a natural law that we will win again no matter what. Pep is the best but he isn't a miracle worker.

5 years ago Laporte got injured and our defence unraveled. Rodri is more important to this team than Laporte was to that team. It's foolish to underestimate Rodri's absence.

The good news is that Liverpool are not as strong now as back then, and we have several exciting young players capable of helping us compete. But nothing is guaranteed. We can lose the league in some seasons, with and without Pep.

As long as we’re in touch in January we’ll be fine.
Yep, just got to try and hang in there best we can to give ourselves a chance when bodies start returning to the squad

Whenever we lose a game we over react as a fanbase (myself included) and think its the end of the world.
Saturday was the same feeling as Villa last December which was the last time we lost a league game.

I still don't see them dropping many points.
At no time on Saurday did I think they'd drop points.

There's some flappers in here. We've had a mad injury crisis since the start of the season. Key players out constantly.

Yet we're only 2 points behind Liverpool and 5 ahead of an Arsenal side that many (including myself) thought would be our main contender this year.

I think they will have at least two bad periods where they will drop many points.

Their campaign hinges on the fitness and form of 2 oldish players, VVD and Salah. In recent seasons, Salah tends to be excellent in the first 20 games or so and then loses form. Also, in contrast to last season, they play in the CL which will make it more difficult for them to sustain form.

Kev was out for 3 months last season and returned in great nick to contribute to our success.

I accept that it's another muscle injury and he's 12 moths older, but if he's nursed, and not over worked,he could be like a new signing.

Mateo Nunes appears to have found his wind and could move into midfield when Jack/Doc return.

Phil is a bigger concern.

He's returned from the EUROS shorn of confidence and form and carrying an unknown illness.

He's a shadow of last seasons multiple award winner.

However I'm comforted by the fact that we are a backs to the wall team and that whilst form is temporary class is permanent.

"Five in a row, you'll never sing that " !!

relax, it's it's all the wingers and attacking midfielders that are injured all at once that's caused it. Hopefully we can get through brighton and then we should be a lot better. just one of those things

Seem to have luck with injuries so far.
And even when a key man like Allison is out for a period they get away with it

We’ve had the easiest start to a season fixture wise we have ever had. The true picture on where stand will be reflected in the new next few games when we start playing the better teams.

We won’t be challenging for the title this season cause we gambled on a small squad with 2 players in Rodri and Haaland that we simply have no back up for. The gamble has failed and tossed off Pep’s last season.

Would love to know the reason why we chose to take that gamble - maybe it was financial or 115 related, if it wasn’t then then it’s a royal fuck up.

Hahaha!

With Brighton, Spurs, and Liverpool coming up, it’s going to be very interesting to see where we will be in the PL table come the end of November and into the Christmas period.

I see the Fannies have woken from their slumber to tell us how we aren’t winning the league this year.

Sad sacks.

Would of been nice having the Liverpool first 8/10 fixtures but year we had a decent fixture start
