The Tottenham Thread 12/13

Has Spurs last ditch attempts in signing Moutinho really failed? Or can it still happen?

I don't understand why the media are pretending that Spurs have had a brilliant window. It's been neutral at best. Three outfield players and a GK is hardly a triumph when you consider who they've let go. I wouldn't be happy, DavetheYid, because it's not enough to get you past Fulham.

Right at this moment I am argiung with Pam on another thread.

They have sold Van Der Vaart and Modric and replaced them with two players from perennial mid - table Fulham ??

Agreed. I think Vertonghen and Lloris are good signings but the rest is essentially Dembele, Dempsey and Sigurdsson for VDV and Modric. That is not a good window, they have replaced top quality with good/ decent players.

Window's been ok but there has been no money spent, Just used money from sales.

I can see alot of goals being scored and conceded by this side.

I see the opposite problem - we've strengthened our defense significantly by adding Lloris, Vertonghen, and bringing Caulker back from loan, and Dembele has better defensive quality than Modric and Sandro is better than Parker who played the majority of last season.

But we've removed Van Der Vaart from the attack and have to hope that Sigurdsson/Dempsey can do as good a job. I'm not so worried about Modric as I think he was slightly overrated and I think Dembele can do just as good a job but it is definitely disappointing to miss out on Moutinho.

I take it Moutinho didn't happen.Been on nights since 7pm and haven't really caught up

bizarrely was the opposite on ssn where everyone was trying to say spurs had the best window despite selling two world class players for fulham midfield

picture the studio talking in all the previous windows and just replace the words harry redknapp with daniel levy

Gutted we sold vdv, that was the biggest shock. Modric we knew would go.

Very poor Window really. I really like dembele but he isn't a modric or vdv. Dempsey I am not all that thrilled about either. The great deal is the goalie. If only we got moutinho the Window would have made me smile.

If anything our squad is alot lot weaker. Maybe they'll be more moves in January

Dont like there owner. loved Mark Boznich when he gave there supporters the Hitler salute and said he was just doing a Bazil Fawlty.

If I was a Spud I'd be pretty happy with that, obviously missing out on Moutinho (if they have) is a big disappointment, not many teams he wouldn't improve, but still, if Andresh Villash Boash can get them working together (let's not forget, a big influx of players needing to gel is not something that only applies to City :-) ) then I can see them easily pushing for top 4 with this squad.

That squad is as about 6th place as Spuds as club should be for their ambitions. They do not have an owner willing to break even to further his investment. The Moutinho/Remy deals were only a smokescreen to protect said ownership. They have a very mediocre attacking line minus Bale.

Big plus for Spurs this window is the lack of quality signings by their rivals. Liverpool have no strikers really and Arsenal have a strike force that'll struggle to gel. Ade is a proven scorer so might give then the edge they need over the long haul.

Think Spurs done very good business. Dembele and Dempsey are great buys. Pool fans must be peed off to miss out on Dempsey esp for 6 million.

It was funny on Sky Sports News last night though with them saying Spurs sold Modric and Van De vart and are 20 million in profit as they only added the cost of Dempsey and the keeper. No mention of the 15 mill they spent on Dembele or Adebayor.
