In all fairness, he is no where near as bad as he was. It used to be incessant, but he only rarely posts his graphs, which I personally am fine with. As long as they are relevant, and not just propaganda bullshit like that one where he only counts the last three transfer windows or something haha

Spurs should walk that league. Anzhi are a shadow of the side that actually qualified for the Europa League, Sheriff hail from that footballing hotbed of Armenia and Tromsø are only still in the competition because Besiktas were thrown out. A couple of lengthy trips to Eastern Europe, but that aside it couldn't have been much easier for Spurs.

Yes, that's very fair comment.

Just as a matter of interest, here are a couple of XIs Spurs could field (assuming Eriksen & Lamela go through) without placing too much emphasis on which players might be in the stronger of the two teams...

...I think most would probably agree that it's as strong an overall squad as you're likely to find in the Premier League at the moment.

It's certainly the strongest Spurs squad I've ever seen since I first started supporting the club in the mid-1960s.

So basically you are saying it is the strongest squad in the league?

In terms of options and depth, it probably is. That doesn't mean the quality of player is as high though, a lot of very good players, but are enough of them really top players? And very few of them have experience of winning leagues or in Europe.

If they get Erikson then Tottenham are looking great. Yes still frailties in their defence, but their midfield is second to none in the league. From Lamela I can only go by what I have heard, but he is supposed to be a good winger. Erikson will give the extra creativity. I dont think its fair to judge Tottenham on the Arsenal game, because it is too soon, but they should get top 4.

Why would you play Lamela on the left?

He's very much not a traditional winger and this would negate his great curlers.

I don't think he is saying that as I'm pretty sure I saw that graphic on another forum earlier today, possibly redcafe, and I don't think it was posted by 6061 (apologies to 6061 if I'm mistaken). I lurk on a few forums to see what's being said but this is the only non Spurs one that I've ever posted on.

No offence to 6061, but I can see why some of you lot give him stick: it's your forum and I think a bit more respect should be shown. To be honest if one of you came on to either of the Spurs forums that I frequent with that attitude then you would have been long since banned by now. I do get the feeling he's tolerated by most as your court jester/pet Spur, he certainly gets some 'conversation' going!

Best of luck this season, I really don't want the Millwall with Money chavs winning it. Let's face it, they're just a small team from Fulham and I really would like to see the end of Fergie lead to the end of the other lot from your neck of the woods. Hopefully we'll be right up there with you but it's optimistic to think that all of the players we have brought in will both settle and succeed in the first season.

I'll probably pop back for a chat towards the end of November.

For those of you interested in such things, Vlad Chiriches transfer fee was reported to be Euro 9.5m, which at today's exchange rates works-out at around £8,114,000.

We don't care. Will take SSN value of £9,000,000,000.

Quick question to any of our resident Spurs chappies :

What happens if Soldado gets crocked ??
They've got Adebayor :)
From all that I've heard we are looking to ship Ade out so as things stand the back up is Defoe. I really wouldn't be surprised if Levy, after Eriksen is (hopefully) signed, turns his attention to another striker and a left back to complete his spending for the summer though.

-- Fri Aug 30, 2013 8:08 pm --

Scrap the above, we've just announced Eriksen so the time has already come for Baldini and Levy to find me a shiny new striker and LB.

I should point out that Lamela, Chiriches and Eriksen could have been announced sooner but it's my birthday today and Spurs wanted to give me three presents :-)

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Christian Eriksen

...and that makes all three.

Looking forward to spending transfer deadline day relaxing in the sunshine, drinking a gin & tonic, smoking a Havana cigar with my feet up knowing Spurs have got all the transfer targets we wanted.

And if Gareth Bale stays in the end, it will just be the icing on a very delicious cake.

Will it? I'm assuming these players have been bought on the assumption that Bale is gonna get sold for mega bucks. If he stays won't you be in a bit of financial bother?

Can we call them big spending spurs now?
How much have they spent so far?

Well that will rather depend on whether a certain Welsh bloke goes to Real Madrid.

If he does, Spurs would actually have a surplus from their player trading this summer.

Bale has agreed personal terms with Madrid. All the major news agencies are reporting that
Its just a question of when its going to happen not if

I meant gross spend.
As things stand (copied from another forum):
INS:
Soldado - £26m
Lamela - £26m
Capoue - £9m
Chadli - £7m
Chiriches - £7m
Paulinho - £17m
Eriksen - £11m
GRAND TOTAL: £103m

Or to put it another way, an obscene amount of money for some athletic blokes that can kick a ball.

We've had c£22m in from sales so far and there will be a few more out, I'm sure. I don't know if you've heard but we might be selling a Welsh lad that we've had on our books. I can't remember his name but he looks just like Kenneth McEvoy.
