How many of those players are being linked with a high profile move away from Spurs?

How many of those players have been in the papers/on TV every hour of every day for the last 6 weeks with endless speculation over their future?

How many of those players could make their own lives, and those of the people associated with Spurs, immeasurably easier by simply stating their desire to remain at Spurs?

I think you'll find the answer to all of the above questions is the same one word answer. None.

Gareth Bale is a player contracted to Tottenham Hotspur.

The club are under no obligation to respond to media speculation, regardless of how much coverage is being lavished on this story.

In the same way as they are under no obligation to tell us Bale has ignored his orders and refused to turn up to training, yet the lack of such a statement led you to ridicule the possibility that is what had happened.

There's no way United would have bid anything even close to the money Real Madrid are rumoured to be offering. £80m+ from United?! Not a hope in hell. PSG, or Monaco, you could see that happening, but Bale has his sights set on Spain (it would seem) so can't see an 11th hour bid from elsewhere making any difference to that.

I wonder if this "last minute" bid is actually even true? Could be Spurs trying to get a bit more out of Madrid, which in turn might explain Bales non-appearance at training today, potentially he's a bit pissed off that Spurs/Levy are dragging this who affair out.

Nothing would surprise me with levy, I don't blame him at all because he's our most valuable player, I'm sure he's trying to get a player slung in with the fee. Madrid will make money back on shirt sales and sell on value so it's not that much of a risk. Bale has always said he wanted to play abroad even before spurs so I don't begrudge him going at all, especially to real Madrid IMO the biggest club in he world

From the speculation in the press I get the impression that when Bale goes to RM, RM will have others players surplus and which they will want rid of. Benzema and Di Maria are the names I've seen. It would be in City's (and Spurs') interest if Bale doesn't go until the last minute to reduce the chances these players could end up anywhere they could do us harm (like Arsenal, Liverpool, United....).

Was thinking exactly the same thing when news broke yesterday that Spurs had received a bid (or bids) from elsewhere. It wouldn't surprise me if Levy is playing it awkward just to drag it out for a few more days to piss RM off. I'm not sure why though as I'd be snatching Madrid's hand off if I were him - I still find it astonishing that they're (reportedly) going to rinse Madrid for a world-record fee.
