As much as I'd like United to fail completely they always seem to find a way to find a way to make the sum of the parts greater than the individual parts themselves. United will be top 3, as will City and Chelsea.

How do you quantify it as £5m though?

Or Joey Barton.

Or Michael Ricketts.

Or Lee Hendrie.

Or Francis Jeffers.

It's pure speculation and, ultimately, totally fucking irrelevant until the point you come to sell him. If you sell him in 4 years time, and he's got 1 cap, I doubt it'll make one jot of difference to his value. If he's a regular England international, then it probably will. Simply making his first ever squad doesn't add £5m to his value. It just doesn't.

By 5 million? He might not even get on the pitch, in fact it's likely he won't. If that's the case then I'd be surprised to see his value go up by more than a couple of hundred grand.
