The Wedding Present

Thought Gedge and another member were rags from north Manchester/Middleton who formed the Wedding Present while at Leeds university? Sure I read somewhere that before then, they were in a group which later went on to be the great lost Manc band The Chameleons (far superior to the WP in my opinion, but never got the same breaks).
Loved the band's sound but could never get on with the singer's voice to be fair - a bit like the Smiths in fact. Still, good to see the old names from my youth still plugging away. Any new material or is it just a nostalgia tour?

They were pretty good tonight on 6. Give it a listen:

On at Academy some time soon, can't recall the date though, sorry.

Just seen it's this Friday...10th

I'll be popping along to see the Weddoes on Friday. One of the most underrated British bands of all time.

Looking forward to a lovely 9 mins of Take Me.

I'd love to see these guys... remember busting my nut trying so hard to get all twelve of the singles they released with cover songs on the b-sides... 1 a month I believe it was @ 94 or so...?

so many great songs

It was in 92 they released the 12 singles.

They'll be playing a few tracks before they play the whole of Bizarro.

I hope they play My Favourite Dress - not only because it's a class tune, but it contains the immortal lyrics, 'Some rare delight in Manchester town. It took 6 hours before you let me down'.
