The "When the arabs get bored....." insult ?

Currently our value probably isn't as high as people think. We have no assets to speak of and are incurring significant losses. The financial picture will change though (although it relies to a large degree on our relationship with Abu Dhabi at the moment). Most of our major commercial partners are based in or connected to Abu Dhabi so there's a risk at the moment. But in 3 years there won't be as we'll be self-financing and the exposure that our commercial partners & Abu Dhabi are getting is beyond anything they ever imagined. Etihad could not have picked a better platform to promote their brand.

ADUG have supposedly guaranteed the wages for all current contracts so we're covered for that. But those saying things like "they'll get bored and walk away" simply don't understand the project and the strategic element to it. It's not a rich boy's toy or vanity project. Investors in the New East Manchester project have been told that the commitment will be there for at least 20-30 years.

The deluded rags and others can dream all they want. ADUG's going nowhere.

One rag said to me "All you are is a rich man's play thing, and when he gets bored you'll be left in the shit"

Rather than getting into any conversation or debate, I shrugged my shoulders and replied with "Well I'm just going to have to make the most of it whilst he's here then"

Every club has an owner (although a number of German clubs are owned by the fans). So with the theory in mind that owners get bored and want to move on, surely almost all clubs are on the brink of being in the shit when their owner does one in the immediate future?

"No!" They say?

Really? So why would Sheikh Mansour want to fuck City off? Why would he want to tarnish his name when he's only just started spreading his name, using City to promote his name as a businessman (empire) throughout the world in many different walks of business? Why would he ever risk seeming untrustworthy or unrealiable to future business prospects?

Also; "We will never run out of oil":
http://economics.about.com/cs/macroeconomics/a/run_out_of_oil.htm
and even if we do, he will still be one of the most powerful businessmen (empire) in the world. So it's not like he'll come moving into a council house on the Broomwood near me if the oil runs out (not going to happen) is it?

When someone says that to me I just reply:

"It was being bored that made him buy the club in the first place, you fucking halfwit. Why on earth would he walk away?"

Whilst this is factually incorrect, I find it serves my ends far better than explaining the strategic plans of ADUG, as people only hear what they want to hear, I'm afraid.

I love the oil debate.
My reply is "Yes, it's going to run out by the end of next year"

When you have a resource, and it gets more scarce, what happens to the price?
The denser among the rags fail to realise that Sheikh Mansour and his offspring will only become richer and richer, with their current wealth making them look like Jeremy Kyle cast members in comparison.
Alternative energy sources? The oil producing nations are all over that as well. If a replacement for oil is ever found, it will be the current oil-rich nations which will be in place to exploit the new fuels and technologies, as they are investing huge sums in research and investment.

Summing up: Dear Rag, the consolation tales with which you rock yourself to sleep at night, sobbing beneath your Ryan Giggs bedspread, are based on a fictional conceit, wishful thinking at its saddest. Your worst nightmares have only just begun.

I had this on Sunday, a little raggity git was going on about how the Sheikh will fuck off and we will be fucked, my reply was "Yeah because you spend £700m on something and then fuck off, because you might be a bit bored of it." His little rat face dropped, i think even he realised what he said was bollocks.

One of the big reasons the Sheikh bought City was to raise the profile of Abu Dhabi, he knows that "the Sheikh will fuck off" is symptomatic of a wider malaise he and other Arab business people have to address, the issue being that they are not taken seriously.

Oh yes, they have wealth thanks to the oil, but they know that in the wider business world it is often said they are two generations away from goat herders, and that perception percolates down to the scum and others.

City ticks all the Sheikh's boxes, we are delivering everything and more he could have hoped for, there is as much chance of him fucking off, as there is of the Glazers planting a Red Devils flag on the dark side of the moon.

I'm tempted to start a website which is a crossover of <a class="postlink" href="http://www.isthatcherdeadyet.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.isthatcherdeadyet.co.uk/</a> and <a class="postlink" href="http://www.sincearsenallastwonatrophy.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.sincearsenallastwonatrophy.co.uk/</a>

I'm thinking havethearabsleftyet.co.uk

NO, then a clock counting the days they've been here. Maybe a few facts about their investment in the club and area as well. It'd be a quick retort to anyone getting sick of making the same argument. All those in favour say aye.
