Sure, but it won’t cause any lasting change in our culture, unless people can’t afford to eat.

Capitalism has maxed out. People voted for a change as a result. It’s going to make things worse. People are at varying stages of realising this.

Sure, the fuel nonsense will be done with in a few days.

If Xmas is a disaster, then there will be uproar.

It’s what people care about. The real issues are ignored unless they affect them.

That's the thing there isn't it, some people are digging around for the "real issues" coming up with all kinds of scenarios.
Personally I blame the French/Chinese for everything :)

It’s because Capitalism is failing, not individual countries.

A fundamental change needs to be made pretty soon, or everyone is going to get angry and insular.

They aint driving less, they're just filling up with £3 of petrol when they can.

I was a student back in the late 70's and had a part time job as a petrol attendant at the weekend. There was a tanker drivers strike, maybe more than once, and it got repetitive the number of people that came in and said 'fill her up'.

In the days when it was 70p or so a gallon, I'd put 18p's worth of petrol in the tank.

'Oh, the fuel gauge is broken. My wife must have filled it up earlier'.
