The Wire

Well after 2 years drifting through this I finally got some speed watching in and done the latter part of Season 4 and Season 5 in little over a week.

Only now I've finished it do I realise how good this was, with the final twists and turns being the epitome of ever decreasing circles.

The problem is now the empty feeling is here and I need another fix, and it's got to be good.

I've done Breaking Bad, the Soprano's and am up to date on the Walking Dead.

Any ideas what to watch next?

Incidentally, for anyone who has struggled to stick with The Wire, try to remember there is pretty much one thread that run 5 Seasons so at times it can be ponderous. Stick with it however and you'll rate it worthwhile once complete.

Have you watched Fringe?

Not sure how you came to that conclusion, given that a large percentage of the people in it are actual gangstas, not actors.

Loved every one episode however Steve Earle a gangsta thought he was a good old country boy ;-) def not an actor.

Hated Snoops being topped, although I never had a sodding clue what she said and also thought was a young lad until the drive bye on the motor bike ffs.

No I haven't. Just had a check and it's 5 Seasons. I see it also has a slight Sci Fi element; does that detract from the reality and believability of the show?

Yes. Some good characters in it, but as you get into it, it's about an alternate universe and people travelling back and forth - so not really believable.

If it's a cop show you're after, have you watched The Shield? Very good for about 3 seasons, but it does get a bit silly near the end.

I quite like Elementary. Johnny Lee Miller playing Sherlock Holmes in New York. Better than it sounds, and his portrayal is excellent - a lot better than the BBC one.

Think I'll have to try a few 1st episodes out and see what grabs me.

remember Boomtown being really good , showed the story through each individual characters perspective , Fargo's series 1 was excellent , series 2 is now on channel 4 . An Australian programme called Underbelly was very good particularly the first 2 seasons which portrayed Melbournes gang wars of the 90s/early 2000s, and the rise of Carl Williams from a dogsbody/driver for the Carlton crew to one of Australias most notorious drug lords
