There's something in this.

Ireland, Petrov, Benjani have all made comments about the state of play behind the scene and how players are money motivated, how there's no trust / stability anymore etc.

I know they're probably bitter about leaving such a fantastic club who are on the brink of success and not being paid as much at Villa, Bolton & Rovers but surely there is no smoke without fire?

The other thing that causes me confusion is that surely if this is the case, why did the club not insert confidentiality clauses upon their departure and pay them to shut the hell up? It does the club no favours when they blag to the press and add fuel to the fire for them to slag us off.

Thoughts?

Sorry i dont beleive that they are telling the truth.

Look at Bellamy. Only fella with some decent class about him has said it how it is!!

That's because bellamy is still connected to the club- he is just on loan. He will come back sooner or later and talking shit about city wouldnt be in his best interest.

It probably is true to some extent, in the same way that there's always infighting when you get 30 or so lads spending all day-every day with each other.
Players are always falling out with each other, this isn't new and it isn't just at City: Hartson-Berkovic, Sherringham-Cole, Bellamy-Riise, etc (and there will be many more that never reach common knowledge).

For me, I couldn't give two sh*ts if the players like each other or not. I'm not bothered if they don't trust each other or are jealous of each others salary. As long as they come together on a match day there's no issue as far as I'm concerned.
If they take any ill feeling on the pitch then the Manager can sort it out, not Benjani or Petrov.

We're just an easy target at present, and these players know that their remarks (which would be dismissed as the sourest of grapes under different circumstances), will be sympathetically reported.

As well, all new managers fail to get on with certain players when they join clubs - these players are then (normally) moved on, and the players have a moan in the press. It's happened with most managers, and it certainly happened with Ferguson when he took over at United.

There's nothing unusual in all this, but everything to do with us is blown out of proportion at the moment...

The fact that benjani and petrov were released means that they was no longer wanted by the club and not good enough and not even worth a transfer fee which must hurt and then they have a pop.

ireland was swapped for james milner plus 16 million which means we value ireland next to nothing compared to milner which must also hurt
