There's something in this.

Ireland, Petrov, Benjani have all made comments about the state of play behind the scene and how players are money motivated, how there's no trust / stability anymore etc.

I know they're probably bitter about leaving such a fantastic club who are on the brink of success and not being paid as much at Villa, Bolton & Rovers but surely there is no smoke without fire?

The other thing that causes me confusion is that surely if this is the case, why did the club not insert confidentiality clauses upon their departure and pay them to shut the hell up? It does the club no favours when they blag to the press and add fuel to the fire for them to slag us off.

Thoughts?

Hehe!

Like Petrov OR Benjani would have come here for HALF their wage packets .... or for for the love of the club ....... both these players have found themselves ousted because they either weren't up to scratch , or they spent too much time in the injury room ....... they have only themselves to look at for the reasons why they are , where they are , today!

And too be honest Ireland can't really have too many complaints either ...... he'd lost form long before Mancini turned up.

don't understand the fuss. people leave the workplace all the time, and frequently spout shit about the company they've just been pushed out from. i know because i've witnessed it many a time. a football club is no different.
of the three who've spoken:

superman - dick'ead

petrov - mizzo

benjani - frankly, he wasn't good enough PRE the takeover.

They were out of contract so free to say what they like. Paying them not to talk about City is not something we should even entertain. Bellamy has a vested interest in keeping his mouth shut and is still contracted to City so no surprises there. Ireland didn't want to leave and nothing hurts like unrequited love so his outburst is no surprise. Petrov is Petrov and I still love the guy and Benjani is well who the hell cares what Benjani thinks about anything.

The amusing thing is though in all these cases and also with Hughes going to Fulham is that the story was not about their new clubs but was all about their old one. Lets face it we are the only meaningful story in town and long may it continue.

Besides Ibra has spent the last month having a go Pep Guardiola so players moving on and having a pop is nothing new. I especially like Ibra's comment about Guardiola not talking to him for 6 months. Clearly Ibra watched the Bellamy interview and took notes.

Benjani's and petrov are both cheeky twats because they both come for the money, petrov came because we offered to pay him more than spurs and Benjani said when he first come that he couldnt turn down the massive rise in wages city offered and that was before the take over.

Exactly ....

most people in life go to work for the money , not the enjoyment of actually being there ........

how many of us give 'two hoots' about the company that we represent , no matter how 'big' it is , or they think they are .....

and how many of us would even go to work at all if we didn't have to?

Footballers are well paid entertainers , certainly in the Premiership anyway ...... but there can't be many of them nowadays who play for a club because of their love for it ...... this is 2010 , and all the majority of people care about is lookin' after No 1 !!

"Money-motivated", that one makes me laugh. At least the players we have are actually motivated, those three were on decent wages and still weren't motivated, which says oh so much about them.

Bellamy isn't the type to keep his opinions to himself whether it upsets his employers or not. So i am more inclined to believe him over Petrov and Benjani.

Its inevitable when you have the high level of turnover of players that we've experienced that there will be dissatisfaction among those players leaving the club. The sooner we can get a settled squad the better.

Don't take what Bellamy says as gospel though. Cardiff are supposed to be paying him "only" £30k a week and we are paying him the other £50k. He knows that sitting on the fence and being pleasant about City will ensure every one is happy and we don't pull half of his income.
I wouldn't be suprised in ten years when he releases his autobiography that there's a whole chapter of him slating us and Mancini - I might be wrong, just a hunch I have.
