Thiago Alcantara

I'm back, started a good debate. Been driving for 5 hrs and have now had time to review comments since 5:30pm.

I see its the same old crap, how will he fit in, would love to see your formation etc etc. it's really very simple. Last year we simply didn't have enough competition or quality in the Barry and Yaya positions. Yaya's loss of form/fatigue costs us. Barry's decline costs us, Garcias quality costs us.

As I've said before, we could sell Barry, Garcia and Nasri (only if isco joins) buy Thiago (sounds arrogant, but at least have a go at signing him) and we would be miles stronger than last season. A midfield of Dave, isco, Navas, Fernandinho, Rodwell, Thiago, Yaya and Milner is better than what we had by a country mile. From what I've seen Dave and Nasri together just don't work that well. Im not going to debate whether Fernandinho is better than Thiago because that's not what this is about. It's about having real competition for places and not being in a situation like last season where we have to play Garcia and Barry together because of injury or LACK OF CHOICE.

I have likened this thread to the mata situation at the last under 21s and for me its ground hog day. Check the mata thread if you don't believe me. At that time mata and javi Martinez were the standout players of the tournament and basically ran the show and look at them now. We missed a trick then and I hope we don't repeat the mistakes of old.

All I will say is we should try and sign this guy. WE MUST AT LEAST TRY, but to suggest we don't need him is just wrong.

I respect others views but sometimes I do feel that those that can't see what's in front of them or denie this guy is the real deal need to open their minds a bit more.

Yep. That pretty much sums it up. Now we wait to see what he decides (there is no way IMO that Tixki isn't trying for him).
