We need someone who can share the work load with dinho. Gundy will get injured without fail next season and if the price was good Thiago would be a superb addition to the squad

Agree. The only solution (IMO) that doesn't involve buying is playing Stones in midfield, but that would have problems because obviously he's not used to it so there'd be teething problems.But this just isn't realistic. Would be a fan of this. Ideally loan with option to buy but there aren't hundreds of players with the qualities we need, Thiago is definitely one of them.
Injuries could be a concern but at some point you have to bite the bullet, and I'd go for it personally. Just be resigned to the fact that players of this quality are rarely under 40mil.

If he can do what he did against Chelsea regularly (and there is no evidence to suggest he can't), we really don't have anything to worry about.

Just watched most of it. I can see why some shouted for him there and many believe that he can do a job in the role after playing there a few times. I think it’s one of those things where we just have to suffice and not be so spoiled with spending. There’s been many games where he seemingly wouldn’t put a foot in and defffinnetlly doesn’t put the grit in that Silva or Kev does. That’s the issue for us non Gundo at 6 types. I think we should all just calm down and trust those in charge here. I’m perfectly fine trusting that Gundo can be the backup there but I just need to see some consistency there and I’m completely sold. I think that’s fair ground for all.

We need an actual defensive tackling midfielder for about 10-20% of the games we play. Fern can play those and rest him for the games he's stood there doing nothing whilst we play attack v defence. Sure, he's there to stop counter attacks but we'll probably see our full backs come inside more for that if he wasn't playing.
This notion we need to buy a defensive midfielder is nonsense. We need someone that can create something out of nothing, especially from deep positions, and keep the ball moving. Hence Jorginho.
Thiago fits the bill but not sure we have any serious interest in him.
