According to Ben Moss of Sport.co.uk.......
Manchester City have joined Real Madrid in the race for AC Milan defender Thiago Silva according to Spanish daily Marca.
The cash-rich Premier League club have already spent considerably more than the rest of their rivals and Roberto Mancini recently suggested they had not given up on securing the lucrative signatures of James Milner and Mario Balotelli, but it appears the Italian is also working on other targets if Marca are to be believed.
The respected newspaper claims Manchester City have already launched a €40 million offer in an effort to beat Real Madrid in the race.
The Brazilian international is adamant he is happy at AC Milan, but both his aforementioned suitors are hoping to persuade the Serie A giants into selling the 25-year-old.
Silva played in Brazil’s 2-0 friendly win over the USA yesterday and although he would favour a move to the Bernabeu should AC Milan accept their bid, Manchester City reportedly remain hopeful their offer will dwarf Jose Mourinho’s alleged bid.
