Thin Lizzy

Saw them many times, from Torquay Pavillion in '75, (50p for a ticket, lol) loads at the Free Trade Hall, to their last gig at Reading Festival....always a great great live band. Best gig for me was King's Hall Belle Vue on the Bad Reputation/Live & Dangerous tour....simply stunning.

The band being dragged around under the name Thin Lizzy just isn't.....Limehouse Lizzy are WAY more authentic, at least Wayne Ellis sounds like Lynott. Gorham should be ashamed, and stick to his far better 'other' band, 21 Guns.....

Fave songs: Still In Love With You, Bad Reputation, Emerald and Cwboy Song.

you can't beat the 'classic' lizzy line up of lynott, downey, robertson & gorham. from jailbreak through to black rose (with gary moore), they were incredible. couple of dodgy albums with snowy ,then john sykes giving them a kick up the arse they needed right at the end with thunder and lightning. glad they went out on a high note.

brilliant band. first ever band i saw live back in 1983 as an 11 year old at the apollo on their farewell 'thunder and lightning' tour.

phil lynott was a great poet and an amazing frontman and is sorely missed. lizzy did some great stuff and 'live and dangerous' just might be THE best live album of all times.

That gig was also the only time I ever got to see them.

There are so many great tracks but if I had to pick three I'd take the following:
Black Rose (Roisin Dubh)
Dancing in the Moonlight
Wild One

As a teenager and my first ever hols with my mates we had a week in Cornwall in a caravan (this was 1984 and no Ibiza for us lads) and when we returned home in one of the older lads yellow Transam we had our heads out of the window shouting 'the boys are back in town' as we drove through Piccadilly. Straight home dropped the bags off and hit Rosies Bar to start the pub crawl around town before ending up in Jillys. Corny as fuck I know, but that song always reminds me of being a teenager in the summer having fun times with your mates, they were innocent days of great fun.
