I would imagine that the 50 quid football ticket for the final meant that the richer Brazilians bought the tickets. They do love their football. I would also imagine that other sports that they couldn't give two figs about, such as hockey, meant half full stadiums.

The hockey was quite well attended but when the athletics stadium is half empty then there are issues. There is the situation with the Paraolympics as well. Fuck em, I wanted the Germans to win the footy last night, that is how much they have pissed me off. Should never have had the games they couldnt afford and the public couldnt be arsed about. Like I said the worst games in my lifetime, from the crowds, to the competition, to officiating, to the shabby infrastructure, to the pissy pool, to the moaning competitors, they have got little right
