Thinking of ditching Virgin TV

RIP Sue & Sam.
Currently paying about £80 p/m for phone with free calls to landlines, 30mb unlimited broadband and the XL tv, Sky Sports, Movies and ESPN.
Have had three new V+ boxes recently - losing all my recordings each time and have had fouteen appointments with the engineers in the last twelve months and I'm pissed off with having spent about 40 hours of my life waiting in for them. So I'm looking to get rid.

I rarely watch any movies as I've already seen them ;-),
I need an unlimited broadband download (see above)
We use 30 mins of calls a week which we could easily do on mobile.
I'm not really arsed about sport other than football.
Would be lost without kids tv - Nickelodeon, CBeebies etc.
Not too bothered about music channels
Don't really watch any of the series that people go on about.

Any suggestions?

Post office unlimited 8mb internet.

Free weekend calls to landlines/mobiles/Europe and other destinations.

Calls to landlines after 6 included.

No telly.

But all the streaming you can muster.

£25.00 a month.

Ditch the movies then tell them you still want to leave......

I was paying the same, i did this a couple of months ago and now am £56....

Worth a try.

Thanks Alex.
I've asked about dropping the movies and keeping sports and with the discount I'd lose on the rest it was dearer! If I dropped the two and kept the XL tv it was about a fiver cheaper.

M+ TV (rather than XL), phone with free landline calls all day and 30mb b/band is £46.90.

If I lose the phone from the three it'll be £41.50.

I'm just waiting to hear what some local geezer can offer in the way of the sharing satellite box things - suggesting that most stuff can be had for a tenner a month.

-- Mon Sep 24, 2012 7:48 pm --

If the dodgy tv thing is anything like I could get a similar to mine for less than £40 if I took that deal too.

This is what I'm looking for really.

I got the 1TB HD box as a multiroom add on for £49 t'other day. Should have been £349 plus installation, I've got it for £49 with free installation.
Edit: With Sky.

I've been offered all that - £50, £2.50 a month extra and free installation.

If they're anywhere near as unreliable as the V+ box I'll give those a miss too.

Reading this thread Ive realised Ive been getting well ripped off.I'm paying about £110 a month for one of the old vigin boxes, broadband and phone.Oh and I don't have the movies. If I ring up and moan how what do you think I could get knocked off the bill? Also do any of you have more than one box? Thanks

Woah! Quagmires name is Alex? This is disappointing.

I'm just about to order virgin broadband 30mb on it's own, no landline, no tv, no phone plan. £22.50 a month.
