The following quote is from a football autobiography I read. It sounds like us at the moment:

I was angered and embarrassed. Where was the passion that was supposed to run through my teams? The team had decent ability but too many of the players lacked the burning desire to be winners. The collective morale was poor. There was far too little of the mutual respect and the all-for-one-and-one-for-all spirit needed to dominate in a highly competitive league week by week. I tried to define the spirit that should exist among footballers aspiring to reach the heights. When you look round the dressing room and and be glad that every player you will see will be out there shoulder-to-shoulder with you, then you will know you really do have a team. I couldn't look round that dressing room and say, hand on heart, that the team mirrored me in any shape or form. I was certain that most of them lacked the resolve and endurance to challenge for a title.

Guess who wrote it?

Malcolm Allison?

Mark Hughes is not Alex Ferguson. We are not the rags.

These comparisons by the pro-Hughes mob have no relevance to City in the present day and are frankly embarrassing with all the fawning praise shown towards the red bastards.

Now stop spoiling his fun. You weren't supposed to notice his 'subtle' point until much later :)

You mean the "red bastards" who have won the Premier League 10 times, the FA Cup 5 times, the League Cup twice and the Champions League twice? Because their manager would not settle for second best, mediocrity, half-hearted performances and unprofessionalism? (It was old whisky-nose by the way.)

I think it has every relevance to us at the moment.

If I became manager and didn't accept second best, mediocrity, half hearted performances and unprofessionalism would that make me a good one?

The Hughes PR has worked a charm, all of a sudden our problems are wholly and solely down to unprofessional players, and no-one is even questioning the managers performances. It amazing what a few carefully chosen leaks can achieve.

One thing I find very amusing, those that were arguing not that long ago that our performances were not so bad, because we've been unlucky and had a few dodgy refs are now very quiet. I guess it suits some people to paint our players the same way Hughes has tried to paint them.

Well you know what...the day the anti-Hughes brigade stop being blinkered, hypocritical, reactionary, troublemakers...I'm sure the pro-Hughes brigade will do the same...;- )

I would put myself in that category and I'm not quiet in the slightest and my argument is entirely consistent. I do think that we have played well in games this season but mainly when we have not had to rely largely on the 'old guard'

The problem we have is that the squad is 'thin' at best, therefore over reliance on the same players and inevitable tiredness could explain some of the poor results and games we have lost this season. When you ally that to injuries and then an over reliance on a largely Pearce/Eriksson assembled team - and that many of those appear disenfranchised - and you get a result like we did against Forest - which brings you and your ilk out en masse.

It really is tiresome. After we lost to West Brom I turned my phone off and had 11 missed calls from a City 'fan' anti Hughes mate of mine.

Guess what after Hull - didn't hear a thing. I chose not to ring him as I refuse to resort to the 'I told you so' brigade. The sad thing is that your attitude towards Hughes smacks to me of the fact that you would rather see City fail as you would get more satsifaction over being proven right. That is pathetic.

So because you're mate didn't call you after Hull you're all upset, and think you know how other people are thinking.

OK.

Sorry- HYN to you too my friend. I'll get down to the Coach & Horses sometime soon. Or is it the Boat & Horses? Anyway, I know which one it is.

Your usual pointless, semantic, pedantic response.
