I had a pet hamster when I was a child. It ate part of the sleeve of my coat that was hanging next to the cage.
The hamster couldn't talk so I never knew it's name. If I had a hamster now, I think I'd make sure it's cage was well away from any loose material, and name it Nelson Mandela.
 
My old school mate was a lion tamer in the circus.

If you do get one please let me know so I can come round and stand outside your window singing 'Free Nelson Mandela'.
 
i'm not sure if i'm making this up in my own mind, but i seem to recall when belle vue zoo closed in 1977 they walked all the animals through the streets in a procession on their way to the glue factory for slaughter.

(i realise this is a circus animals thread but didn't want to start a zoo animals thread)
