It's a real competition for who wants to get relegated. You'd say Sunderland and QPR are nailed on, as they are both unbelievably shit, but there are so many other terrible sides putting in a strong effort to get relegated as well.

I said last season after the "great escape" that it doesn't really matter who Sunderland's manager is. The players decide when they turn up and O'Shea/Brown/Cattermole are the real managers along with a few of their drinking buddies like Johnson and Larsson. Looks like they can't be bothered to raise themselves in the last few games this season.

Fair play to sherwood - he has made a difference. Didn't think he would.

Bournemouth is his next gravy train, nothing more certain, just what a new club needs experience.
Yep. He pretty much started his managerial career at Bournemouth, didn't he?

If they do come up (and Eddie Howe doesn't hit the ground running) you can bet your bet your life Twitcher will fancy it.

Some pretty good comments on the ESPNFC chat board regarding Sunderland . . .

"The problem with all these teams threatened with relegation is that they can't all hire Pulis to save them at the same time."

"Can't we just relegate 4? Throw in Sunderland as a bonus?"

"Sunderland are really missing Jozy Altidore's defensive qualities. He seems to prevent goals pretty well..."

He took over at a really good time with the fixtures, I think most of us could mastermind a victory over this Sunderland side. It'll be interesting to see if he can do anything against anyone decent, but he's managed to get the confidence up while playing some poor teams, so they should be alright now. So many of these teams are so poor and devoid of tactics, that simple enthusiasm and confidence is enough to make a huge difference.

It's hard to believe that this Sunderland side has a larger wage bill than Porto, Benfica and Sporting combined.
