Do FA rules now allow Rooney to be banned, even though the ref gave him a yellow?

If nothing have changed this season then no. Ref dealt with it so Roooooneyyy is safe.

From November 22, players can be charged retrospectively even if match officials have seen part of the incident.

The new rules will now cover:

- acts of violent conduct that occur secondarily to a challenge for the ball.

For me the Rooney decision is the worst of the lot of all the bad decisions. The referee clearly saw it and knew it was a red card, but due to the big name player and big name club decided to not give the right decision. Would have changed the game and it was just blatant nepotism. That being said I need to cheer on United for once today. We can not have the teams around us winning.

Think since the FA got his England ban reduced on appeal the refs have been reluctant to issue the correct cards to Shrek
