Great player whether you think he is a twat or not.

A good player, sometimes very good, but not great

Between 2002-2007 only Zidane Kaka and possibly Nedved were better than him in his position in the world. He was a great player in that time. Since about 2009 he's been way off that level, a shadow of that early 20s player. That may cause people to think that he's only a 'good' player (I think he's been poor this season) but ten years ago he was elite.

I'm not having that, but it's only my opinion
His tactical awareness, his positioning and his role discipline are all poor. His pace and power got him out of trouble, sometimes. That's why he's not a great player, never mind put in the same sentence as those guys.
There's a reason Benitez shunted him out to the right and away from having to make important on field decisions
