Many players don't. Of that United youth team of the early '90s it was Nicky Butt who was captain and the biggest, most exciting prospect of the lot.

Remember Denilson the Brazilian who played for Betis? He was "the next best player in the world" at one point and became a nobody.

I'm sure the press will put it down to being on our bench even though he got plenty of time on the pitch just as I'm sure they won't mention the dozens of outcasts from the rags that litter a few clubs and never do anything.

This is a bit like yesterday where the team with ten men is far better than the one with eleven. The only difference is that Newcastle have no idea how to hang onto the ball. Ben Arfa is useless. Never manages to find one of his own team. I'd take him off if I were Pardew.
Ben Arfa is a great player to have when you are running well and have the majority of possession. In this instance not so much yes.

I like Ben Arfa can see someone like Arsenal going after him.

I guess many times it's down to the quality of the players around a particular player he does not look half the player he was with us

Perfect for Arsenal. Great skill but fuck all use when the chips are down.

I always say, when David Silva plays for us the other players around him play better. Teammates are a massive factor when looking at the quality of an individual.

Messi lived off Iniesta and Xavi at Barca very early on and looked half the player when he played for Argentina. But he has developed in the last eighteen months has been immense for Argentina too.

Shows how good a player like Maradona was when he won the Italian league on his own for Napoli and the World Cup with just the odd other player for Argentina.

Haha. Sounds about right. Ten years ago Arsenal were completely different to that but Wenger has stripped the raw fight out of that club. Players like Bold Adams Campbell Petit Vieira and even Bergkamp had fight in bundles.

Johnson is a complete myth of a player and has again been rubbish. Sunderland fans are starting to work him out now like most City fans did. The role he hated so, an impact sub, is the only role he's any use in, and even in that role he became less consistent for us than he once was. We did well to get £10million for him even though we might have squeezed a little more out of Sunderland with the English premium.
