he wouldn't last 5 mins with us if we served up a performance like that against arguably the worst footballing side in the PL on current form.

He's inherited a really average squad, hasn't had the chance to make any notable additions, which he probably needs to do to properly execute his style of football. He's clearly having some successes and some failures at the moment but it is really early days. If you want to take 45 minutes of football in isolation to try to evidence something, I'd say our first half away at Villa was every bit as bad as this with a much better squad available to us and against worse opposition, Pellegrini has lasted longer than 5 minutes after it though.
