Thomas Cook

Virgin have been doing the opposite over the last week or so with their 'sale'.

I looked on Friday and it was £250 return to fly to Orlando in November which was cheaper than Thomas Cook, never seen that before.

Lowering prices to put the nail in the coffin maybe?

I haven't checked but now that they have gone under I bet it's double or treble that now.
November is the slow season in Orlando! Still Hurricane Season, and a major US holiday on the last Thursday & weekend of the month.

Friends here in the U.S. bought 4 tickets (including one night hotel stay) for the Derby on March 7. Fortunately they hadn't booked travel yet. Since the tickets were going to be from MU, they are trying to see if they can be salvaged. If not, they are looking for alternatives. Anyone bought tickets thru "livefootballtickets" and if so are they legit and reliable? Any other suggestions for them? It's spring break from college for their two sons, so unfortunately they can't stay for the following week when we host Burnley as I might have a couple of extra tickets.

Sadly it looks like it was crippled by debt, didnt it buy airtours for about a billion £s ten years ago? overheads and the WWW.

I’ve got some bad news about your Mars trip.

It wasn't Mars, if you stayed in’t Sea of Tranquillity.

You’ve been done.

supply and demand ,always the same with the airlines, you only have to book a flight abroad the watch city to see the difference, same with school holidays

I get that mate I really do and like others have stood by keyboards for Europeans and had to shuffle my options owing to lower points. For Poznan we had to fly to Berlin and then take the Warsaw express and many others like Saltzburg travel on down to London airports but this is a travel tragedy by any standards and TUI should show some fooking respect by not capitalizing on the situation. The old saying in life is by all means take a Buttie but dont take a Banquet and certainly not at the expense of other peoples misfortunes ( T.Cooks customer base)

They’ve all hiked prices.
Some Jet2 ones went up £400 immediately the collapse announced.

I know Dennis and I've just had a look at a flight price I quoted on here the other day for January with the Ryanair flying Manchester to Tenerife @£66 return and now it's £113 and will continue to steadily climb over the next week as all the T.C people try to re-book their lost holidays. But eventually the market will stop bubbling and foaming as this dreadful maelstrom simmers back to a sense of normality and once more all shall be well in Little Hartley.

Not sure why people are acting so surprised that prices have gone up since the news about TC broke.

I imagine thousands, or maybe tens of thousands, of people will have been panic booking alternative holidays today. In the agency I work in it's been non-stop from 9am, people just desperate to go anywhere. As with most things, the more something books up the more the price increases. It got to the point today where there was basically no package holidays available departing this week, save for a few shit ones still kicking about.

It will only get worse before it gets better probably.
