Thomas Waller

I’m a little surprised someone can seemingly promote murder and no-one bats an eye.

He definitely deserves a maximum custodial sentence, and possibly even chemical castration, but beaten to death by “serious criminals” and “fisted for spice”?

OK, if that’s where we are as a society now.
He raped 3 year olds. Fuck him. He deserves a despicable murder.

Cheerfully???

And, the law says I can only use a firearm for threat to life. That doesn’t sound like a cheerful event to me, but then I’m not you.

Should I be able to neutralize a threat to my life and that of my wife (my children are adults now and out of the house) or should we play victims for society so you can feel better about yourself?

And, last I checked, MURDER isn’t legal in either country.

I know these things can create reflexive hyperbole in people who can’t understand a society where guns are legal and people UNDERSTAND the risks of threatening the life of innocents, but that’s no excuse to print it.
Yes, we've heard all about your Glocks.

I guess my point is that we have a winter’s worth of snowflakes on here that cry foul when anyone dares say a word about a Palestinian (or is it Israeli Jew today?) or a train attacker being/not being of color or a Christian/Muslim, or whatever the outrage of the day might be…

BUT, someone says someone should be fisted and beaten to death in prison and not a second thought! No comments.

It all just seems a little unhinged.

While I realize people have been getting beaten and murdered in prison forever, I am not sure I have seen that process both desired and lauded as a good solution to a crime, no matter how despicable.

And, if that’s where we are as a society, let’s not let the criminals have all the fun! Let’s have public executions, live via PPV for those who can’t attend, or build an arena where they can be ripped to shred by lions or swim with the sharks in chummed waters. You know, something to really get the juices flowing!

Of course, that’s all hyperbolic nonsense, but the blood lust on here is a tad off-putting at times.

I have no problem with the death penalty, but let’s agree on it as a society. In fact, I have said that I’d volunteer for the firing squad in some cases, as I’m a strong proponent for law and order. But the key words there are “law” and “order,” not chaos and personal vengeance.

It is lawful for me to shoot someone in my home if I feel my life is under threat. It is not lawful for me to shiv someone in the showers or use a broom handle to rip up their insides. There is a difference, which I’d hoped was obvious.

My bad.

Heard, but clearly didn’t understand.

That’s a common problem.
Understood alright, also point me in the direction of me condoning any violence towards Waller.

Merely pointing out that maybe you are not the best placed to comment on said violence. I'm out of this thread as it, like many on here at the moment is quite toxic. Maybe I'll duck out and give you the win.

You don’t need to, it’s a draw. I’m out.

There are a very “select” handful of people baying for blood, so I’ll let them have their moment.

Maybe some quiet reflection later will be cathartic for them.

And, lastly, point me to the post where I said you were the one condoning any violence. You interjected to point out my seeming hypocrisy. I merely defended myself and discussed society.

I can guarantee there has never been a time when people didn't want really bad things to happen to someone who rapes 3 Yr olds, just contemplate that act in your mind, dont shit out, stand by your principles even an imaginary viewing of the most despicable thing someone can do.
Then tell me you wouldn't think twice about shooting that **** stone dead.
Say the guy in the house was about to rape someone thats okay in your book to shoot him, or say hes a smack head whose actually just robbing you. You can shoot these 2 before they have done something but after they've done it the child rapist deserves some sort of consideration? I get the burgler getting some. But a rapist of a 3 yr old. How fucked is that as a moral stance.

Btw society didn't decide shit its a false cliche. Society never got asked.

Fair enough CB.

"That doesn’t sound like a cheerful event to me, but then I’m not you." Was the bit where it felt like you were saying I was condoning violence.

In reality I do think that Waller will get some primitive justice in prison and I won't feel sorry for him, but I'm not actually encouraging it.

There’s too much to unpack in there, and you have hyper-personalized everything, taking everything out of context.

Society is reflected in your vote. You might not like how others voted and may even feel slighted that your personal views are not reflected by the society in which you live, society removed capital punishment in the UK…and can change it again if it chooses.

Which vote did I have specifically on the punishment of child rapists? Society didn't remove capital punishment, politicians did. Im not generally in favour of it but certain things im more than happy for it to be in place. I dont hide behind the false claim of a 'decent society'

Nice swerve on the rest though especially your bizarre morality on who you can shoot.

I’m not sure if you understand what society is, and based on your repeated personal comments, I’m not sure you’d be capable of organizing one.

Never “swerve” any discussion and would happily engage anyone with any sense or knowledge on most things. Hence, the lack of any desire to engage with you further on this one, especially after your pathetic attempt to undermine my morality. I have one of the few professions where it is actually a requirement of the job, which kind of undermines your point, as if I needed any help!

Err you did swerve because you didn't answer. A society would mean people have their say. If people dont have their say its called..... you're clever you can work it out.

By the way flying a plane in the US of A and owning a gun doesn’t mean you are guaranteed an Oracle on when you should fire one.

See endless coppers shooting innocent unarmed black folk, a requirement of the profession eh?
