my thoughts are that those who dont want gerrard to play for us are simply stupid. he is a world class midfielder and is liverpool. that team would be nothing without him. we would be daft not to go for him this summer, with him not at his happiest and liverpool finishing in 7th place this year.
he is exactly what we need, a box to box midfielder that can score, assist and work his socks off for the team. we have nobody like this in his position. and insted of having two cm's and 2 wingers we would have

barry de jong

johnson gerrard bellamy

tevez

i would be over the bluemoon if this came off and i hope most of you would be too. this is what we have been crying out for all season, and woud make us genuine title contenders if this came off

Not me Scotty. He would be thirty years of age when he tied on his boots for his first competitive match. Box to box wallahs don't have much life left in them post-30. His best days are gone, and if he was any good to any EPL club next season, and I'm thinking contenders, we'd be the only ones showing an interest. He is off overseas with his cheating ways.

are they really gone, or is that becasue he is playing in a team with lucas, ngog etc

I do mostly agree with you on this. However it's hard to overlook the fact he is coming off a really dreadful season and he will be 30 before the new one starts and .... will have played thru much of the summer. Add to that the fact that it seems he will be going thru a John Terry moment while all this goes on leads me to the view that, while I would do it, those that wouldn't are being far from Brainless.

It's not a question of stupidity, it's more a question of realism. 2 or 3 years ago had we the money and he wanted out then I would have said a resounding 'YES!' But he's at the autumn of his career and his affiliation with the dippers would be way too much for both the scousers and ourselves. Basically, too much emotional baggage.

I would not be at all surprised to see him finish his career in Spain or something. His private life is by all accounts in tatters so I genuinely do not see him staying in this country for long.

Gerarrrrrrrrrrrrd, plays with his heart on his sleeve, as he is scouse through and through. Would he be as driven playing elsewhere? How would he be playing against them? Would he even come? My tuppence worth is, IF he leaves laaa-land, he will be bound for italy or spain. I would go for him aggressively but privately, as it would be damaging if it went public that he turned us down.
