Those who DON'T Want Gerrard are Brainless!!

Top notch player. Had a terrible season by his own lofty standards.

It's hard to say he wouldn't add huge amounts to the team in the immediate short term, but he would be 30 by the time he kicked a ball in anger and we would be spending £40m on him. He's not a technical player in the mould of a Scholes or Giggs, his game is based on energy and power as well as ability. How well will that hold up as he gets into his 30s? Would you want him if he lost the ability to burst past his man?

He would be 34 or 35 by the time his contract finished; can you honestly see him being world class at that age? Considering he'd cost £40m- ish and earn around £7m a year, the total outlay would be £70m+. It's a mind boggling sum of money for 1-2 years of quality and no resale value, only worth sanctioning if (a) you seriously think he'd push us into the title winning bracket and (b) he brought Torres with him.

Given the fact he's expensive and ageing and really not worth much to anyone who doesn't have a mega rich owner, he's arguably more valuable to us sitting on Liverpool's books as his value declines rapidly. Why help them out by giving them lots of money for an asset that is losing value rapidly?

It's tempting, but on balance I'd say no.

In my opinion people that can't cope with the concept of two people having different opinions, with neither of them being the right or the wrong one, shouldn't really cmment on others intelligence levels.

that made me laugh, only because when reading it, it sounds like a vinny jones line from a film.

other than that though, i agree with what you say and people are entitled to there opinions.

I don't personally want him at City, and at his age, and contract position, anything above £10m would be too much.

I'd love it if United came in for him though, and they paid top whack in fees and wages, would piss off both sets of fans big time, but I don't think Glazer would care less what the rags thought.

Many a player before has been a superstar at their hometown club or their first club but faile miserably to show that form anywhere else, then their are the rumours about his alleged private life that may well break out in the near future, plus the age, plus the cost......
Im brainless so it is too big a gamble for me.
Im out.

Doesn’t this just stem from an article in the Mirror? Or has someone with some credentials said something about Gerrard joining us?

Class player and exactly what we need, but Joe Cole is 18 months younger, on a free and could do just as good a job imo.

joe coles already said he doesn't want to come here or move up north, he wants to go to the spuds with harry

Was listening to talksport an hour ago, they replayed a clip from this morning some itk said he has it on very good authority Gerrard will definately leave Liverpool. He said Gerrard very likely to join Real if Jose goes there.

Strange that real madrid seem to think he is a good buy at his age, for that price and considering they have a much stronger central midfield than us yet city fans seem to think he is not good enough value for us even though it is a world class player in a position we desperately need strengthening. Anyway, if he goes to real then hopefully we can pick up some of their cast offs like diarra.

Do you not think it would be good for us to have Rags most hated player at present in Gerrard wearing a City shirt next year.

Rags faces at the Derby when he banged in the winner would be priceless!
