The FA cup quarter v Reading one game from a trip to Wembley. Many of us would have walked there bare footed. The third tier of the CB stand was shut so. The club we’re struggling to fill a 47k etihad for what i classed as an ‘enormous fixture’

Many refused to pay the extra £50 on principle. However principles don’t get you access to away tickets unfortunately.
It was quite clear to me then which direction this away tickets lark was heading, thus I had to pay the extra £50

Yes I remember the Fa cup match against Reading when they chucked a load of extra loyalty points as an incentive. The system is so skewed now you can get more points on Platinum for joining a cup scheme, even if there are no home matches to attend, than those on Gold buying a season ticket.

You are right about principle does not get you away tickets, hence people going platinum, but similarly those getting first dibs by going corporate can make the same argument. Fans should have stuck together and not paid.

If people are happy to pay extra for loyalty pts then its difficult to cry foul if others pay even more for even more points.

It wasn't an option not to pay it if you wanted to carry on going to aways. The £50 more was just to stand still, there was no additional benefit, if you didn't pay you got half the points and drop behind 1,000 a season.

Yes I do get that. Probably should have worded it better to say as a fanbase we should have acted collectively and fought the monetisation of loyalty points. But however its dressed up its paying for points and it pushes those fans even further ahead from the next generation of fans coming through.

But as you highlighted its easy for me to say not regularly going to away matches, so I fully understand why people paid it. The issue is more with the club than individual fans, but by accepting it its now harder to cry foul about it imo.
 
Never bagged the loyalty bonus qnd stayed with value. Held a seasoncard since we moved from Maine Road and well behind those I know who paid the extra and started their seasoncard journeys after the Hamburg UEFA cup games.

It would be cool to see a breakdown of supporters in points bands. Managed Dortmund and Copenhagen away but cannee get to Leipzig. Happy more loyal and dedicated Blues get to games frequently, but annoys me those who flog on tickets regularly. At Southampton there was a Scouser and two Cockneys who Bagged their tickets off a resale site. None followed City. That worries me. Tourism shouldn't replace City fans on the road.

There’s plenty of evidence that tickets on resale sites have come directly from the club in the past. So I wouldn’t automatically assume that any or all on there have been listed by fans.

Yep I've no idea how many's got what points wise I know a lot with more than 21k though suppose it's cos we all get tickets and travel together, which is why I thought 1000 with 21k seemed a little light to me.

Sorry, I didn't take time to study. Heard rumours but never seen anyone write it or read about it anywhere. Sad, if so.

I’m going back to when Viagogo were City’s official partner and handled the ticket exchange for Platinum members. I had screenshots of rows of prime seats all together for sale for the biggest games. Absolutely no other possible explanation than they had come direct from MCFC.

Now City handle the ticket exchange in house I’ve no idea whether they still have any official partnership with Viagogo or similar companies.

But the fact they were supplying them directly previously means it certainly can’t be ruled out that the practice persists.

supporters services said yesterday it'll be in the next couple of weeks.
It should be as soon as we are knocked out of the relevent cup.
the 100 or 200 platinum points could effect someones abilty to get an away ticket,not good enough is it.

The 200 points puts me up a bracket for Arsenal and Forest both on sale on Monday. I should be ok but for some it will definitely be the difference between getting one and missing out.

In my mind at least it was first, second, third, regular.

Not that it’s got anything to do with points. Don’t think they started until about ‘99 did they?

to get a ticket for Wigan away in 99 playoffs you had to have 5 away stubs from that season to qualify which created carnage! following season for first 2 away games at Fulham & Bolton you had to have 10 away stubs from previous season then as season progressed for Crewe away you had to have a stub from Ipswich away and for Blackburn away you had to have Wolves away, it changed to tracked away games the following season for first PL game at Charlton and started at 15 away then dropped every day , loyalty points were brought in following season
