Ticket Points Sales Tracking

You are correct we did indeed get 100 points for Reading 5/03/2011.
Also got 100 points for Aston Villa FA Cup on the 21/02/11.
Talking of Reading the away game that I always remember is a Tuesday Night after we got beat by Wigan in the FA Cup final. No Manager an abundance of empty seats and it absolutely pissed down all night.
Got a win though.
Some great chants that night: "Brian Kidd's holistic army"
And some lads with a very long Costel Pantilimon banner that they presumably brought to the cup final, only to find that Mancini had reverted back to Joe Hart

City Matters did not ask for it. The club suggested it but we agreed, as the case for doing it was sound. The system encouraged people to buy away tickets and pass them on. I don't see how anyone can think that's a good idea. The people who regularly do away games do it because they want to go to the games, not because they want the points.

You simply cannot complain about the 'wrong' people getting tickets while also complaining about measures to mitigate that.

But I absolutely agree that the points system as it stands needs significant reform. It was originally meant to encourage sales of tickets when we weren't successful , but isnoe being used to ration them. It should be based on no more than the most recent 5 years attendance, which we talked about with the club pre-Covid, but they bottled, as they felt someone who had the 100th highest number of points might fall to 105th place under a sensible system. Shame they didn't apply the same sympathy to people who had their seats taken away by yet another hospitality offering.

Points should also be based on attendance rather than just buying a ticket, then not turning up.

Platinum needs fucking off, which we urged them to do but they refused, despite us suggesting alternative ways of replacing the relatively miniscule revenue (less than 0.1% now) it brings in.

They need to look at the whole system of allocation of away tickets. What worked years ago is not what works today.

But people also have to accept that, as things are, supply is not going to meet demand for most games. We're even struggling to meet demand for home games.

Isn't this a contradiction. The reason most people reached high points is because, as you say, they go to the games. There may have been a very small percentage of fans who would buy a ticket purely for the points although I suspect that number is very very low. There may have been fans who passed them on due to sickness, last minute work commitments etc but I find it very hard to believe that high points earners were regularly buying tickets just to pass them on with no intention of themselves going.

The problem now is the vast amount of tickets that don't go on sale to points holders. If I am a member of a branch who also happens to have hospitality SC I have three opportunities to buy a ticket for an away game. That can't be right can it? And what about the amount of tickets the club siphon off for their 'partners' and ticket agencies. If they want tickets for games then there are plenty around for home games, the amount of non City supporters at away games borders on embarrassing at times and again can't be right.

Points holders / 18 - 25 should have 75% of tickets, branches 15% and they must be allocated on a points structure not just given out to mates. City fans should be at away games not a random selection of people who support other clubs who are wealthy.

I had honestly forgotten about Pantilimon.

I've no skin in this particular game as I gave up any semblance of trying to increase my points when platinum was introduced. The point I'd make is that for all the exhortations by Pep to get the fans behind the team I find it very unlikely that the club will give a rats arse about creating a Blue Wall in the new NS when they are happy for a large proportion of our away support (where it can be crucial) to consist of people with zero connection to the club.

Was there in 2013…Brian Kidd in dugout non stop Mancini chants and that sexy burgundy kit… was only about 15 at the time loved it

personally thought Pantilimon got himself dropped by telling media in the build up he was looking at leaving City that summer

Yeah, don’t know if Mancini has ever confirmed it but the general consensus was certainly that Pants was going to play.

And then inexplicably a couple of days before the biggest game of his career, he starts blabbing off about how pissed off he was and that he’s off in the summer.

I suppose there’s always the possibility that Mancini had told him that Hart was playing first and that sparked the outburst though.

His career went from strength to strength when he got fed up and moved on.
