The away tickets at the Etihad are the amongst the cheapest in the ground.matty barton said:Pathetic article. It shows up two things. Firstly how fucked up English football is and secondly how thick a English fans are.
Our fans are probably even thicker than yours because we"ll buy the tickets regardless. You brought 900 odd to Emirates last season which AFC probably laughed at because they would have sold the returns to home fans in the space of minutes. Thick fans.
Likewise we whinge at high away prices, but still oversubscribe the allocation. The only pressure we put on our club is to move away fans upstairs so we get 2,900 more "cheap" lower tier tickets for £62 and the away fans have to stump up the £80 plus top tier ones. Thick selfish fans.
Your fans are thick as well. The way they played the victim card at Arsenal last season was laughable considering your ownership model hasn't helped football price inflation ( the author is correct there). The Scousers complained as well, but sold their allocation. The Mancs, Yids and Chavs put up with it. All thick. What your lot also ignore is that away fans pay higher prices than most home fans at your ground. At Arsenal, even if you are paying £62 as an away fan, you have the "consolation" of knowing the majority of thick home fans are paying more than you.
Bottom line is that fans are too parochial to spot the bigger issue. Rather than see that the clubs prefer foreign tourists they blame each other instead of making a united stand.
I've seen plenty of posts on Blue Moon about what a horribly arrogant club Bayern are. None of those posters seem to have realised that club, just like other mega clubs Barca, Madrid, Juve, actually treat fans with a lot more respect than the tourist attraction Premier League.
We are the aboriginal people of Disneyland. If you honestly believe your owners will prefer you over oriental and Middle Eastern tourists in the long term, you are deluding yourselves.
The victims are our kids. I take my kids to Gillingham more often than I take them to Arsenal. I quite enjoy the old fashioned ground in a Coronation Street setting. Kids think the football is shit, and appreciate the Xmas/Birthday/League Cup visits to Arsenal, so essentially they are growing up as tourists to their own heritage. This is England 2013.

i recently purchased 4 tickets for the liverpool game at £232 , and i am not that concerned becasue A) we will win ,B) i will see plenty of goals and C) i will see my team win a trophy this year . Were as arsenal fans will A) lose because they bottle the big games B) have 90% possession and do fuck all with it and C) will probably never win another trophy because the club trousers all the money , now tell me which set of supporters is fucking THICK

I have been a ST holder for 25 years. The cost of my ticket is now c£1,050pa which gets me every PL, CL and FA cup game. League cup games are open to all at a much reduced amount and are not included, which I support as its a way off getting new younger fans involved.
It's taken me 3 years to get on the away ticket scheme, which means I am bound to buy every away domestic ticket ( PL and FA Cup). In return, should we be so lucky, I'm guaranteed cup final tickets.
The average ticket price I pay for away fixtures in the PL is around £45. My ticket for next Saturday South Stand Level 2 entrance L is £58. The most expensive of the lot. I don't complain because the reality is there are hundreds of Arsenal fans queuing up behind me to take my away schemes membership and the demand for home tickets is so great that the club is quite happy if away teams give up part of their allocation because it means they can then fulfil some home demand.
Arsenal fans seem to me able to afford these prices which is why despite the prices, the demand is still relatively huge. It's economics, the price settles at a level when demand matches supply.
Those who rail against these economic fundamentals almost certainly subscribe (stupidly) to the Ed Balls theory of financial management.

You seem to understand as much about economic fundamentals as Ed Balls. If after 25 years of following the club you only got on the away scheme 3 years ago you probably aren't the sort we want among our away following anyway.
I've followed the Arsenal home and away for 30 years. The proportion of ***** has increased year after year.
The economic fundamentals, as you put it, are that Arsenal are the favourite club of the people of London. Pricing that bedrock support out has harmed the identity of the club as well as the quality of the support. Long term that will harm the value and appeal of the "brand", which is probably what you see the club as.
Prime example of the "thickness" amongst our support that I referred to in my original post. Maybe you should share your pre-match pint with the moronic City fan who is happy about shelling out x amount for their Liverpool match, because they will "definitely win, see goals and a trophy".
Shame neither of you see the big picture, tradition or give a fuck about the fact local kids can't get in.
