Why would you go straight in at the asking price?! That’s not how negotiations work. Am certain this will get done soon regardless.
I know
If you pay the initial asking price it will no doubt go up
It’s a bit of a dance but I imagine it happens every transfer
And pretty certain it’s what every club does when bidding for our players

You can see why the club love release clause transfers?

Still tedious isn’t it. No wonder Txiki always loved a release clause!

Used to sell cars.
I would have loved to have dealt with all these BMs when they were buying.

All paying screen price for the car. No favourable terms, just the full asking price!
As I was on 20% of the profit (not the screen price!) I'd have made around £200-300 every car I'd sold!!!!!!!
There's a few on here who make it seem like doing multi million pound deals for footballers is the same as nipping to your local supermarket. There's not just a price tag and you pay it. Even if the clubs agree on the fee there's all sorts of other stuff like payment scheduling and bonuses. This stuff takes time and there's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes than we all see in the tweets about a bid being made

Paying whatever the selling club demands is the “United way” and look where that’s got them.

I think the issue is - we know the asking price, we try to negotiate for weeks (giving other clubs the opportunity to come in) and always end up paying asking price anyway.

That's the issue most fans have.

I think it only becomes tedious because you have people like Fabrizio Romano feeding this frenzy for hour by hour updates. I doubt he's even privy to the exact details of any bids. For all we know, City and Milan could have agreed a fee already, but are keeping it under wraps so that Milan can show their fans they negotiated hard to get the best deal for the club.

Back in the 90s I spoke to a solicitor whose company were insuring a player ahead of his transfer from Nott'm Forest to Blackburn.

He said the player had more bonuses than there were PL clubs.
So even things like that have to be taken into consideration.

Not sure the advertisers on Bluemoon would appreciate such a (un)refreshing sentiment ;-), but I agree with you. Khaldoon’s comment regarding the ‘new’ squad departing for the USA would ring hollow if only those already here were embarking, and Reijnders is arguably the easiest deal to negotiate.

Think that statement is a bit PR really, not a chance all the deals are done before the CWC. nice headline though

If we had just bid €100m immediately we could probably have skipped a few days of negotiations. Txiki and Viana’s job sounds easy as fuck
