Tijjani Reijnders

Before this season, Reijnders had never scored as many goals in a season as kovacic has for us this season playing as the 6. Its far from a given hes going to offer a consistent source of goals.

Neither he nor MGW could be described as young and yet this is the first season where they've performed anywhere near the levels needed to even get our attention. Foden and kovacic have shown more over their careers for us to back them to offer us more next season once kovacic is back in his 8 position and foden has hopefully rested and can regain his form.
Slow down, I recall saying that Kovacic could weigh in with Gundogans level of goals, when he moved to Barcelona, and was laughed out of the place, as Kovacic had never been what you'd class as prolific for a 6.

Fast forward a year or so, and he's weighed in with a decent return, so there's no reason to suggest Reijnders couldn't do the same.

Kovacic has now scored more goals this season, than he has in the previous 9 seasons combined, whilst playing around the same level of games each season.

I wouldnt worry about his age since he isnt a project player like Doku or Savio, he is basically immediately ready.

He has a solid 6-7 years.

Didn't suggest he couldn't or wouldn't. Simply stated this season is the only season in his career to date where he's put in noteworthy numbers and so suggesting he'd be a reliable source of goals is something nobody can say with any confidence.

Given the state of our midfield I don't think we can sit around and cry about realistic potential targets not being 21 year old all world talents with a solid decade in front of them.

A nice 5 yr deal, with a club option on Year 6, for €60M and we are golden.

Big, strong, pacy, with a pass in him. What’s not to like?

Tend to prefer younger players, but we paid a decent whack for Fernandinho who was 28 when he signed and turned out pretty well.

What’s wrong with 26-27? Chelsea started this obsession with 21 year olds I feel
Don't think there is anything wrong with a particular age and some players go on a lot longer than others but players may take a little time to settle and I feel you get a bit longer with a player signed when they are say 23-24 than 26-28.
Their fundamental quality is most important though.

We need some players entering their prime. We've got a lot of young players and several experienced pros at the twilight of their careers. It's helpful to have players around 26 who can deliver for 4-6 years. If we sign a lot of 21 year olds we're likely to see more mistakes as they develop and I'm not sure we can afford that right now.

The problem with getting 28 year olds is that if they have a slow start they’re basically 30 before we see the best of them and then you’re already thinking about how you’ll replace them.

We have had some great older purchases - Fern, Yaya - but there’s definitely more room for error with players <25.

I think he'll stay as he's about to have an op after his red card to be ready for next season. I may be way off the mark but I think he'll stay along with Gundo, and Bernardo, who has just started to show some form these last few weeks:-)
That worries me. The way they were all hugging Kev almost felt like they planned to be here long after he was gone.:)

Only Jack had the " i'm out the door with you attitude." This worries me.

Feels like this will be done next week If the fees being mentioned are correct
A great move which shows we are obviously moving with our targets quickly
