Tik Tok looting event Oxford street. Coming to a town near you?

kids spitting on people, anarchy for the UK, punk violence, mods and rockers fighting running battles on the beaches.... it was the end of the world don't you know. According to the daily mail and its readers anyway. It's just kids being kids like we all were. Society isn't going to end.
Didn't say these kids were gonna bring about the end of society either (which tbf, society died years ago). Just, you know, there's a difference between kids being kids, teen rebellion, etc. and whatever this is that's going on. It's not exactly grounded in left wing politics. Turning up outside a shop in London to watch some prankster rob the place isn't exactly good praxis is it.

The youth have got nothing better to do. The shopping centre is the new youth club, church, parks library etc

Their are no genuine left wing movements for kids to join we are in an era of post ideology - the right has become the centre and these kids have nowhere else to display their angst. Was the same in 2011. Anything like this has to be seen as a class rebellion even if it doesn't have an overt political message. The fact they target shops (same in 2011) tells u how embedded consumer culture is - the only way we know how to relate to our environment is through consumer choices and that includes stealing/looting/destroying! I have to say destroying Oxford Street is certainly more effective than destroying your own area as was the case in notting hill/moss side.

I don't disagree with your general point, but am I the only person who wasn't a complete **** when I was a teenager? I don't think 'all' kids were like this when I was younger or now. Maybe I was a boring kid, but I feel like the demonize a whole generation of people because 10% of them act like utter bellends.

Every time I hear something like, "Of course we all stole something from the corner shop when we were kids." and I think "I didn't." I'm sure I was a complete twat in other ways, of course.

Sounds like you had a decent upbringing to be honest.
